I think we are all wishing for a V8, but have to agree with others, that does not sound anything near my V8, reminds me more to the c63 e performance my dealer had few weeks ago

The power bump, depending on how they achieve it, also adds weight so there is that. The CLE 53 already has the wide stance so really not sure what else they can do to make the 63 look apart.

100% all the data is pointing towards the 4.0l v8. 1st c63 e performance has close to 0 sales (Total failure) and is not very well received. Competitors are much better in all categories. The new test cle 63 has no charging ports. The sound is completely different and much more in tune with the current v8. For those saying it’s the i6. It gotta make much more power versus the cle53 for it to be worth the price as the cle 63 will be price above the c63 hybrid. But if it’s going to make a significant more power, then where is the charging port? Mercedes would be crazy putting the same drive train in the c63 in the cle and charge even more money. The data is pointing towards the v8.

Yes as already pointed out those pics of the convertible are old, back from either late '21 or sometime '22 same goes for that patagonia red coupe in heavy camo those mules are no longer around.
This Evo publication has mixed latest mule CLE63 coupe with very early CLE63 vert mule for some reason.
The CLE63 will 100% definitely not have the I4/P3 powertrain.
If it's a derivative of the I6 maybe they're trying something clever like what Porsche have done with the 992.2 T Hybrid tech. which would be an intriguing option to consider if it's not adopting the V8.

Let's recap this whole issue shall we?

I believe once people are spoiled with something, it is very difficult to take them back to what started it all.

Life of the C class started with the W201 having a cool Cosworth tuned 4 banger. 2.3 and 2.5 liters respectively. Purists loved it.
Then they decided to drop a 6 banger and a V8 into it with the W202
The W203 was as confused as the current model is, they went for the supercharged V6 and then the V8.
The W204 was a V8 big block with loads of power and grunt.
The W205 had a smaller version of this V8 with two force induction snails slapped on.... that's when the purists started complaining but performance figures shut them up.

Now, they've decide to go back in time and make a very very fast W201... and the purists are crying mommy.

yeah but its still a v8 with an incredible sound. Easy to up the power with a simple ecu tune. This new one is too complex qnd over priced. Sales figures are shows everything. W205 sells like hot cakes where I live.

Suppose so at least it offers something different/over and above the I6 CLE53.

However no one yet in the public eye knows what the upcoming E63 will be all about, it'll more than likely also get a V8 if the CLE63 gets the V8 and would make perfect sense that way to effectively compete with the new gen M5 !

Depends on why it was removed...
Risk getting in some sort of trouble by MB or look silly if it's not a V8 as claimed

Maybe Roken and his crew were right and didn't want backlash from MB with no further privileges or free trip and accommodation hand outs for car reviews in future

FWIW I'm sure everyone interested viewed that vid and read the comments anyway, so too late to take it down if it was never meant to be seen.

There are lots of vídeos saying it will be a V8, non of them deleted.

Maybe the "test pilot" in that mule copped a lashing from MB for street dragging a car paparazzi and exposing too much of what they're trying hard to hide and requested RBR to have it removed

I'm sure we'll see a future vid from them with the whole story, that'll be fun

There are more publications out now with those latest CLE63 mules testing on the Nurb, but strangely no vids.

AMG seems to be willing to take the hit and bank on the future. The CEO openly said in a recent interview that he thinks we'll all end up loving these cars and that people buy them for the technology and not the engine. He might well be right as younger generations come along who haven't driven the same cars that we have. How many of them even remember driving a stick shift, not to mention having the skills? We are at the point where Gen Z can't manage their lives w/o a smartphone anymore. They can't do anything w/o a smartphone and can't imagine a life before the phone, GPS etc. They can't even read a map anymore. Something similar is gonna happen to cars.
