CLK 230K H&R too low ride. Help Please!!!
Hi Guys,
I have a very strange problem with my car. I ordered H&R Springs from Germany with 40mm drop all around specifically for W208 230K Coupe. The car literally became extremely low and front tires will hit fender and inner lining and the exhaust hits speed bumps. Its not drivable. Rear Tires hit inner lining as well on high bumps.
I added a 1 inch rubber on top of the front spring pad which is a PAD#4, and the rear springs have Pad#2.
My Wheel and Tires are:
Front: 18x8.5 ET35 Wheel + 225/40/18
Rear: 18x9.5 ET35 Wheel + 245/40/18
I am not sure what is wrong.
Also what is the standard height of the car. How to measure it.
I didnt want the drop to be bad, just wanted better handling as my old oem springs are old and car was not even on all sides therefore changed to H&R Springs.
Please advise.

Strange, H&R springs are generally a fairly minor drop. You ordered their standard Sport springs and not their Supersport right?

To me your car looks great !
You have done the same as me to adjust the height by adding or removing the spring pads. The max pad is no.5, to get my height just right, I had to cut the top of the old pad and sat this on top of the new spring pad .

Sounds like you are still using stock shocks, just H&R springs? It's possible your stock shocks blew out. If you just did springs, then the new springs aren't supporting the weight as much as the old ones did. So the new load on the stock shocks could have caused them to fail.
I had the sport cup kit (springs and shocks) and the front shocks failed when the car was stolen (guess he drove it like he stole it). My tires were rubbing the fender exactly like yours is. I replaced the shocks with Bilsteins up front and my ride height went back to normal with the fender about a centimeter off the tire. So check your shocks.
