I would address the alignment issues before I started putzing around with the steering wheel

Thank you.. I actually got an alignment right after I replaced the center link. Benz charge me for the alignment.. I took it back and told them it was still off, pulling to the right. They did some test and came back with diagnosis of needing to change the steering gear. They wanted like $2500 for it. The car would drive straight but go of course.. They said this was due to bad steering gear. I still don't know how it's related to the steering shaking / vibrating at 45-55? I've been reading a bit and I was hoping this would tightened up the steering a bit without actually replacing it. Worth a shot before I fork out the cash.

Will raise it up again Sat and verify. From last time I inspected it was still in good condition. Never been replaced though. I have 199500 on the vehicle. Dealer didn't recommend it to be replaced as well.. They did recommend the the tie rod to be replaced. It was leaking and torn. I opted to replace the center link.

Did the alignment place check for wheel run out? That could be the reason for vibrating, or even a tire bead that didn't correctly seat, or blemish in the new tire. Don't trust anything even if its new.

Have the steering gear bolts been tightened? It's a five minute service that's supposed to be done every 4 years or 50,000 miles, but commonly overlooked. Here's how it's done www.fitzhughmedia.com/MBF/sgb.html

Brought it in 3 times to the tire shop. They said it all looks good. Even swap the 2 rears to the front for test and it still vibrated a little. Here's the thing as well. It would do it more worse at times than others. Which I'm thinking that if it was the tire ( out of balance ) it would vibrate all the time. So I'm thinking that it maybe related to other issues instead. Thanks for the reply.

I had the issue you at describing. Tighten all control arms and shock bolts to specs. New Tires and balance. Wheel alignment. No vibrations, but slight loose wheel at high speeds cornering. Still investigating.
