THE blower thread
The tails really wake this thing up. I've never been much for body work/paint/bling.... but this is really fun.
It's ALL your fault..... I was happy with my ride until I saw that damn casper white clk in her glory, wailing down the UAE tracks.
Appointment set for 10AM sat with paint/body guy.
* satin silver - Does anyone have a paint code for the MB satin silver?

There are many downsides to changing from stock color to satin silver..... but I just HAVE to have Satin Silver.
Downsides:
1. Re-sale...... changing color kills resale. (I'm told).
2. Paint repair later... is hard with satin.... (I'm told).
3. Extra care when washing/waxing...... I'm told you can buff/polish out the satin effect..... (I'm told).
But damn it looks good.
Remove Seat
Be carefull when disconn elec conns
Rear bottom seat disconn via push down rubber latches (spring loaded) very easy to undo.
Front of seat bottom disconn via two platic hinges, pull the plastic retainer plugs, and pop off hinges.
Remove bottom seat pan.
Remove old seat cover, keep track of all plastic clips and the copper hold down wires.
Re-install new seat cover in reverse of remove old cover. Remember where the wires/clips go.
I used a special jetski mech tool for installing rubber jetski battery tray straps to help install the seat cover frame wire into the plastic clips.
There are two rivets to drill out and re-pop rivet after install new cover.
GL. If I can do it anyone can.
Much better... old worn paper thin bottom seat cover replaced with NEW mb oem cover.
Priced out cover/pad at dealer..... very exp.... part dot com was 25% cheaper. GL.

I realize that you have found the color ... but if you want to see (what seems to be) a complete list (with pictures) of Mercedes colors, plug this into a google search and then choose "translate page"

I like the color you picked ... cant wait to see it on your first class ride.
Chris
I"m meeting nero (with the renntech widebody) @ the body shop This Saturday..... I'll get a quote for widebody too....... ...... most likely just get the paint.... but if the widebody is NOT ridiculous..... "maybe".... we'll see.
Tomorrow - getting 2 comp quotes on: 1) paint only, 2) wide-body and paint..... one of the places I'm visiting does NSX widebodies so we'll see what's what.

Met with paint shops today..... waiting on quotes, then spray time.
You can see the 3m 5200 adhesive I used to glue the spare tire bucket in..... let's just say that new bucket is NEVER coming out >

When you get right down to it..... adding BS body panels to my car just doesn't seem right..... I would feel like I'm trying to make my car something it is not...... (a limited ed Black)...... I'll just buy a used BS down the road if that is what I want. I'm building something different.
The widebody is very cool one-off..... but I'm just too chicken to trust a shop to do it perfect. If it is not even.... if it is too big or cartoonish..... if the edges are not factory appearing..... it would just kill the car looks.... and I just am not ready to take that chance.
Nero's widebody came out awesome. He's got a one-of-a kind car.
I'll be plenty happy with the satin... cf treatment...... then bb kit, and suspension goodies..... then perhaps some track time..... like my hero Mr. KEV!
Shop 1------- $4k
Shop 2-------- $13k holy cow!
Bid analysis was pretty short.
