THE blower thread
So far I've got:
Kleeman $8500 for the kit
Brabus
RennTech $18,000? for the kit (need to confirm this)
HPM (still around?)
Powerdyne (custom adaptation required)
Vortech (custom adaptation required)
E55 blower swap
Supercharger, intercooler, ECU upgrade
460 HP @ 5500
RPM; 465 LB-FT @ 2400-5000 RPM
$15900 msrp
A guy will do 10% off of this. Still alot of dough not installed.
What makes the renntech soo much more than the Kleeman? Diff blower? Better blower? more power?
I'll most likely copy HOP's vortech setup over the winter as my car has a few things still set up for the side mount configuration. Assuming I get the new motor in...

I would keep on the hunt for a kleeman charger deal from a trade in or private seller. Whats a used kit worth 4-5K?
Renntech is fancy as hell but its double the $ and a kleemann blown CLK55 is the only one I know of in the 10's so far...
Dropping the OEM 55K blower on there ala' hooleyboy seems pretty badazz yet I would only go this route if I was to have a tuning shop at my disposal.
I'm leaning towards Kleeman, bigger heat exchanger and pump, my PTE cams, and fresh tune.
IF the shorty headers I just bought are holding me back, I'll swap them out for some of the fancy kleeman mid-length jobs with the downpipes.

The KLEEMANN Kompressor System is an Eaton type supercharger with an integrated air-to-water intercooler and is the only known system to combine the intake manifold, kompressor and intercooler into one integral unit. The intercooler is such a superior design that it holds its own patent.

Kleeman says they use and Eaton style supercharger.... anyone know which Eaton blower they use.... see below link to eaton for diff types......

engineering dwg of the eaton.... m92 I'm guessing this is what kleeman uses..

Good article on the eaton blower with carb on top through a 350 small block........ nice power and 500 hp sounds familiar to the kleeman claims.

PTE - Sounds good..... cams will be installed next. I'm on the fence about installing a "ported/polished" stock intake since I ultimately want a blower.... so I view this as a wasted step..... and I've yet to see documented gains with the p/p intake.
..........
Renntech intake was bought local for $700 cash. Hard to say how it performs without dyno or track time. I can say the car is loads better from when I picked it up CPO used from MB dealer with loads of leaves/crap in the air filters, stock exhaust, and stock tune....... Since then: new high flow 2ndary cats, ams headers, renntech intake, lsd, tune, and injector cleaning.
Weather here has been 100-102degF which kills power...... so hard to say how much gains. Which leads me to blower time.... with my HOT climate I'm thinking extra capacity heat exchanger/pump OR all the boost will be wasted in heat soak.

if ur going for a once in a week car that u want to use to smoke everything on the road a twin screw is ur choice but in my case my car is my daily so i sticking with the power the eaton is giving me and being thankful for it
good luck making a choice its a tough one
I've yet to find any good vids/pics of a W209 with a kleeman blower installed.
It's all W208 guys that are blown.
Are you doing upgraded cooler/and pump? Cams? Exhaust? Tune?
Inquiring minds want to know.
I'm thinking kleeman blower/cams/tune this fall after bonus time.

I placed an order to buy a Kleemann supercharger I couldn't find a twin screw charger not even used and I am a bit impatient so I went ahead and placed an order on an Eaton charger. I also ordered a set of cams to go with that. They told me it would take one to two weeks to deliver. I placed the order the day I left the country and I should be back in two weeks time to drop off the car and get the work done. When thats done I'll post up all the pictures I can take and all the videos I can film with all the feed back I can give

I am also going to get a Quaife LSD to go with that. I am hoping to get some good results
Post up results bud! If you build your's 1st I'll gladly learn from your experience.
I'm already stealing shamlessly from PTE and others.
I won't be doing my kleeman/cams/tune for a few more weeks until bonus time late Sept. Then it's on.
Can't wait for some updates hami.

.....
My plans:
Phase II - Kleeman, PTE cams/Ti retainers, tune, 180 thermostat, trans service #2.
Phase III - larger kleeman heat exchanger, pump.
Phase IV - carbon fiber trim interior, refurbed CLKBS wheels/tires.
Phase V - coil-overs/struts
Phase IV - new sound system, nav, ipod hookup.
Somewhere along the line I'm thinking the trans will need an overhaul...... plans will be better clutch packs, and a worked Tq convertor for better 60's.

so the blower, cams and diff r my second step for now
i'll wait and see how it sounds after the job is done because i have been thinking of adding an x pipe and deleting my secondary cats
coil-overs, bars and struts r in my future plan but i think i'll get that done after winter season has gone away and all the snow has melted
i like the thermostat and heat exchanger ideas i might be doing those sometime soon after the blower
im not so crazy about cosmetics at the moment plus im not a big fan of CF interior
one idea in mind right now is a custom intake manifold but i need time to research about it first
Kleeman blowers are reduced price
Takes 1 week to ship after downpayment, then 1 week to install/tune.
Hoping to do this in September....... BEFORE Hami! hah.
A couple questions for you experienced folks:
1. Does the kleemann kit come with the intake and engine cover? Or do we have to source our an E55K intake? Or do we re-use the front part of our n/a engine covers along with what kleemann provides? I think I've seen somewhere someone had a nice looking custom kleemann insignia intake mani.
2. Gages - Are you guys running a set of gages in the a-pillar, or dash, or glove box to monitor boost, and AFR? It was nice in my old mustang vortech days to be able to keep an eye on things whilst under boost...... granted I was at much higher boost levels than this kit (17psi back then).
Or do most benz kleemann peeps just go without the real-time data for a more factory look?
Thx........
hard to sleep at night with thinking of these new mods.
