Here is my setup:Velocity Motoring VMR 721 wheels
F: 19x8.5 ET35 235/40-19 Michelin Pilot Super Sport
R: 19x9.5 ET 45 265/35-19
Schrader 28214 TMPS sensors
No rubbing with stock suspension even with taller tires to reduce fender gap. Had good luck with VMR wheels on my Audi S4 so decided to give them a try on the E550. MB wheel caps do not fit these wheels so I bought some MB logo wheel center cap stickers off Ebay to cover the supplied wheel caps.
Very happy with this setup. Handling, tracking and grip all improved over OE wheels and tires.
Has anyone else been able to run a 235/40/19 up front?

Running 285/35/19 in the back and it looks like a 235/40/19 is the only way to maintain the 3% diameter rule.
the first set will definitely work. I ran 235/40/19 and 283/35/19.
the second set will work but will require about a 20mm spacer up front. Don’t see any problems with the rear tire.

These sizing are for volk te37 wheels. 18" are SAGA, 19" are m-spec. Which set do you think will be easier to resell? I've always wanted a set of these wheels, and I'm thinking of pulling the trigger but a big consideration is resale as well. It would be a non-issue if they were 5x114.3, but sadly our cars run 5x112

That's for the 19s. I went ahead and checked your tire sizes for you, and the second set will be perfect in terms of rolling diameter. Our cars require that the front and rear tires be within a 3% difference in rolling diameter. I didn't know about this when first modifying my wheels, and it basically sent the car into limp mode because of the speed sensors. The first set is a 2.8% difference. It's very close, but shouldn't be a problem. I was running a 2.7% difference at one point with no problems.

First, I ran a 235/40/19 et43 with a 15mm spacer. It would not even fit on the car without the spacer. That would make it 28et. If I have a major bump the tire will occasionally hit the strut. You're adding another 10mm in width, which I assume will extend 5mm towards the strut, and 5mm towards the fender. You would 100% need a 10mm spacer just to even have it fit on the car, then 5mm to counteract the extra width you added, and another 5mm to get it farther away from the strut. 20mm spacer.
The 3% rule is in regards to the diameter of the tire. The first set, which is 235/40/18 and 285/30/18 has a diameter difference of 2.8 percent. 235's have a diameter of 25.4" and the 285s have a diameter of 24.7
The second set has a difference 1.2%, but I believe you thought I meant the 2.8% was for the 19's, but it's for the 18s.

I'm running 34.5 ET 19*8.5 with 235/35 in the front and it is flush. My rears are 48 ET 19*9.5 265/30, these could brought flush with a 10mm spacer.
As for the percentages, I can't comment suffice to say I experienced no error messages when the newbies were mounted.
Here's my 2015 E400 With Rennen CSL 3s Front 19 x 8.5 et35 245/35/19 Rear 19 x 9.5 et38 275/30/19 I have Amg Sport Pkg with factory 10mm lowered suspension <--- Fyi.
On the 19" setup that so many are using with 8.5 front and 9.5 rear wondering if you can go 10mm wider front and back on the tires or will it rub? Meaning 245/35 19 to 255/35 19 and rear 275/30 19 to 285/30 19. I currently have 19" vertini wheels 8.5" width front et33 and rear 9.5" width et38. Was hoping to get a little bit better ride, fuller tire look and more rim protection.
Heck I’m still trying to figure out if I will get 19s or 20s. I know 19s have more rubber and will protect better against potholes. But 20s look so nice. I will probably drop on bilstein b14s.
How did you lower it and how much drop? Exactly the height I want mine and i'm running the same size wheels and tires.
Lowered on H&R springs. I don't recall what the drop was, but it's just on the springs.
Spacers are installed in the rear to bring the tire flush with fender. I have a slight amount of rub between fender and tire, you can just see the marks on the tire from the contact. Literally would need 1mm more clearance to be OK.

Another member has almost the same exact setup as you but with spacers on the rear springs like you mentioned. It would be great if they made springs for this car that did not lower the rear as much as this seems to be an issue. Does your car have the sport suspension?

For the tires, 40 ratio is too big.. 35 is much better.
As for the percentage difference, just an FYI, I've exceeded 5% without issues (RWD).

I want to buy Mandrus Miglia wheels for my e550 coupe and even though ive read this thread up and down for the "optimal flush offset", it appears 8.5" +35 front and 9.5" +45 seems to be optimal.
How would 8.5" +32et front and 9.5" +48et rear fit? Would the fronts protrude out of the wheel wells? I'm looking for a flush to slightly less than flush look

so
so I tried the 245/40 and that was not a good ride at all for me so I got 235/35/19 In the front and the car rides beautifully and perfect offset I feel. still running 275/30/19 and there perfect im happy with look and ride comfort and wheel gap.
