I watched that one...I don't think there was a reserve, so it sold to the highest bidder.
I think it had about 155k on it and had some issues. The seller seemed to upfront with them. Also had some dings and scratches.

There was NO reseve on that car...like the highest bidder got it..warts and all..at a bargain price. Of course, the car may have lottsa issues. I called to get some info from the build tag on the car and the salesman said it just went for an inspection. So, it would seem the inspection report wasn't "glowing" 'cause that car should be worth at least $10 on a bad day!! Realistically, an average 500E it's worth $12 -$14,000. They just aren't getting the prices everybody thinks they should. The Porsche connection isn't worth that much..I guess Right know the best bet out there in a V8 has to be the 400E in the W124. Like $2-3,000. WOW

In good
condition the market is about 8-10 k with low miles under 50tho maybe 10k private party. What makes this one be 8grand over market? You could buy a 2000 E55 AMG and have change left over.

he's selling it for NADA, where do you get 10k from? AMG's are a dime a dozen now, this is an ACTUAL rare performance mercedes sedan... not to mention in the condition it's in plus upgrades...

Enzo, my Benzo
Exactly...market value is different than book value. Market value is real, book value is a guide and that's all.
I will get 10K CAD when I sell my 300E cause it looks hot and some buyers want that over a stock 300E for 3k. That's the market.....

apparently you don't know the Mercedes market. do some learningfirst, then post on what a benz is worth.
the thing about rare mercedes, is that they have a different market, in the since of someone "looking for an early 90's E-class" is going to be willing to spend 6ish on a good 124. someone LOOKING for a 500E/E500 is going to be willing to spend 13-30 on one. its a different market. id be willing to put money down, that in the next 5-10 years a sub 100Kmile clean 124 E500 with be in the high 20's
you could be selling a F430 for 100K, and get offers for 95- the right buyer will jump on my price. I payed a lot for the E5 because i new what it was. its a selective market..... in return, if someone is looking for one, all they need is my phone number.

you have a nice car, but if the 'real' market value of yours is more than his rennteched 500E with under 100k miles, then the end of the world is surely upon us.
