AC Problems
The compressor/dryer has been replaced on the S500 3 separate times! My hope is that this isn't the case for the E300.
How much should the labor run on this job and are there any other expenses apart from the hoses?

Thanks for any help,

Problem: Climate control unit initially works fine on start-up. After about 10-20 minutes the fan starts to fade away even though screen says it should be on high. A few minutes later it will turn back on to max and then slowly go down again. This cycle repeats and I have no control of the fan, even in manual mode.
Solutions tried: replaced regulator, didn't solve it. Then sent control unit in to be tested. Apparently there was a problem so they "rebuilt" it. Got it back yesterday and the problem's still there.
Note: I just got the 2002 E320 wagon in November, and this problem didn't start showing itself until spring with the AC on. HOWEVER, it will do the same thing even if I have the EC button turned on.
My next step is obviously looking to replace the blower, but I'd REALLY like to stop just throwing money at this problem! Any help or advice is very much appreciated!
Here are my codes (first one is when things seem normal, second is when it's wacky):
1 = 25, 34
2 = 25, 26
3 = 03, 07
4 = 03, 07
5 = 02, 05
6 = 86, 88
7 = 11, 09
8 = 35, 44
No error codes.
Thanks.

i had a blower problem as well and it turned out to be the resistor control for the blower motor speed - ( mine only came with a new blower motor but found a fix from another model PRICY to buy together resistor was 25 bucks i think ) its located in the blower box, as mine would only run at low speed and showed hi on dash control < i could see the resistor control doing what yours is doing as well < its the way the unit works if you have not had it fixed yet i can supply the # for the resistor and directtions to install - jz
Thanks again for any help.

I have a 2001 E320 and the AC blows cold air when it's working properly but many times there is no air coming out of the vents (even when the fan control is set to max). It seems like the car does not properly sense the temperature and adjust the climate control accordingly. I think the dealership refilled r134 a few months ago but that did not solve the problem. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks!

p.s. should the fans in the front of the radiators should be working with the a/c on?
thanks one more time.

Any ideas what I should look at first?
Basically the knock-off regulator was overheating and then resetting once it cooled down. Hence the random fan behaviour. As long as you get an OEM part the repair can be done yourself with a few screwdrivers in about half an hour, if you don't mind bending yourself into the passenger footwell.
