Okay

now you are getting somewhere
That is why what is happening is happening.
Value 5 is in default mode to tell the evap sensor to shut down the compressor so it does not freeze up. So you have cold a/c air for the first several minutes and then the comp shuts off and then the car sits for a bit and you start the cycle again.
Pick up an evap temp sensor unit under 50 bucks from www.autohausaz.com
http://www.autohausaz.com/search/pro.../Heat%20Sensor
Give me a call or look for the diy I did on evap temp sensor.
Don't remove the drivers side under dash panel till you have the part in hand since it will make it easier to tell you what to look and feel for.
Once that is replaced then the codes will clear or you will clear them and the rest of the system can be tested when fully functional.
Nearly impossible to test it with a bad evap sensor.

A/C - hot air and default vent position

Started blowing hot a couple of days ago, after going to default vent position a couple of months ago. Cannot hear hissing at center vents, but that may have something to do with vent positions.

I ran the a/c diagnostic (107,102,105,107,103,190,10,100) with no errors.

Cleaned duo valve, no change.

Checked #7 and #8 at 1,500 rmp - started after 4 minutes, then at 30 sec intervals, EC off 14,129; EC on 13;125; EC on 12,123; EC off 14,136; EC off 15,139.

Suggestions for next - including where I might find the individual flap diagnostic sequence.

Not flaps

by the looks of the numbers you have aleak in the ac system it needs to be located repaired and recharged. You can buy a dye kit or an electronic sniffer at harborfreight tools and track down the leak.

Did you erase codes using both AUTO buttons simultaneously when in error mode until FF appeared?

Do that, if you didn't.

The evap temp sensor is prob bad.

The compressor was engaging (although not with a much noticable "Drag" on the engine, but could not get the system to accept coolant last night. Took it to an indie shop today. Said they evacuated, added dye, and recharged, but still not cooling. Said the compressor, drier, & expansion valve need to be replaced ($1900) as the compressor is not pushing the coolant. My common sense is not agreeing, but perhaps its only the wallet arguing.

TM,

I noticed that on the Heater/AC control unit that the left Auto button, the - fan button and the one 2 switch from leg to face to window on the right side were not working. I took out the unit and found on the harness one of the pins were burnt...hmmmm. I got a quote from the dealer of $468 for the dash board harness and I said f%#k it. I went to the junk yard and got the harness to the control along with a new astray for $150.
I cannot erase codes due to one of the Auto buttons not working.
So I cut the old plugs out and rewired the new(used) ones.
Now my A/C blows colder than ever.

BuT!!!!!!!!!!! the three buttons still does not work

My conclusion....... WTF???!!??!?

Thanks,
Rock

Red Angel Stop Leak for A/C refrigerant leak

Hi, i have had a slow leak in my AC to where I would recharge it once a year. The last recharge only lasted 2 months.

I want to add Red Angel Stop Leak treatment when it's recharged. It's a 2 oz can that is added with refrigerant.
Here's their website

http://www.gouniversalproducts.com/p...Stop-Leak.html

Anyone heard of this or have xperience with this type of product? Thanks.

I ran the error codes and besides low refrigerant it showed I had bad refrigerant pressure sensor

Then obviously I would replace the bad refrigerant pressure sensor before your compressor gets damaged.

Those sensor errors

run in a very loose range. Usually false.
Fix the leak.
Clear the error after refill
I doubt it will reappear.

ac is tempermental

My AC only works when it wants too. Somedays, the AC kicks in right away, some days, takes 20 minutes. Took it to the shop, no leaks.

My my two AC fans only kicks in when the compreessor kicks in, regardless of the temperature of the water. Also, my two AC fans are NOISY, not a metal noise, but an overworked noise, any clue?

Did you run the a/c diagnostics?

http://www.eclassbenz.com/node/27

If it works fine at times, skip step 1 this time and just go into the error mode read and record the errors and then hit the 2 auto buttons at the same time to clear the errors. At times stored errors accumulated will cause an overload and intermittent a/c operation. Clear the errors and then see how she operates.
Then when you get that done run the whole test. Just as directed and record values 1-8 and any errors that show back up.

AC variable temperature - duovalve?

My A/C has been wacky on my E300TD. For a while I was nursing low refrigerant but I fixed that. Now it randomly changes temperatures out of random vents. Its not just left and right which would suggest duovalve, sometimes its the far outside vents hot and the center ones cool. Sometimes its hot out of the rear seat vents and center vents and cold on the outside vents.

The other symptom which makes me think its not the duovalve is that the sound changes, like as if it goes from recirc to vent, if that makes sense. Its just changing sound like something in the dash is different. I think doors are opening and closing that shouldn't be, or maybe the dash controller is giving false info.

Major symptoms;
-random changes in random vent output temps associated with different sound
-hard to tell, but it seems as though it sometimes changes if you hit a pothole or bump, but it could be coincidence.

How can the two vents on one side be different temps?

The different sounds/temps from the vents seems like a possible vacuum pod issue behind teh console; I'd still give the duo-valve a good wack or two first.

Cleaning and lubing the duovalve is an easy job. Mine seemed to be sticking and when I pulled it appart, the little pistons had a deposit on them that must have caused the problem. Cleaning the deposit off the pistons and using a pool lube has solved my problem.

Ok, good to know guys. TMAllison, thanks for that great link. I don't think its the duovalve given that it changes sounds and the hot vents have no pattern to them, but that is an easy fix. Vacuum stuff = dashboard stuff. Eeww.

COLD Air

Go to the following site: http://www.eclassbenz.com/node/27

To end my a/c issues, the compressor and drier were replaced.

JNS Performance (Spring TX) charged $1,125, which included finding the vacuum line that was unplugged on the firewall causing the vents to blow on default position.

Blowing COLD

AC Codes - Need some help understanding them - More Issues

Last year a replaced the ac blower motor as listed here in DIY - that all worked fine until yesterday. I now have no blower at all. I checked fuses - they seem fine.

Sensor Data: 1-102, 2-96, 3-112, 4-116, 5-82, 6-186, 7-09, 8-103
Error Code: E FF

'99 - E430

Any help reading these codes would be appreciated ... and any other input would be welcomed. Thank you

More symptoms ... any help ... Please

when it rains ... it pours...

today I starting hearing something running constantly when the car idled ... I thought it was the fan kicking on (it's been very hot here)... but when I stepped outside the car to listen more closely - it was not the fan... but it sounded more like a whining noise. When I turned the ignition off ... the sound slowly died down. Is this related to my ac going out ? Any ideas ???
