I was pointing out that he was just restating the OP's sw version AND taking thje opportunity to link to his,
what appears to be, commercial site, where he's selling it for double what the dealer charges and you don't get the disc...it's a download only. Then you burn to your cd. Hmmm...

Are these software updates free? My car (2004 E500) is not under warranty and as I've been reading, some MY04 do not read newer DVD's for navigation. Is the software update supposed to fix this? How long does it take?
I have to go purchase a 2006.2 DVD but I don't want to leave the dealership and find out the module can't read the disk.
I've read that P-B-82.60/382a is supposed to fix this problem and that one person got thier car to play MP3's after the update. Will it do this?

If so, read the OP (post#1). Take that part # to you dealer's parts dept and order the disc. Cost is ~$10-15.00.
Takes 10 min to do the update.
Whether or not it will solve the inability to use the newer Navi discs, don't know.
Mine won't read a 2006.1 disc properly but I haven't done the update yet because my dealer didn't have the disc.

I finally got the update and it works great
. it was painless, although I lost all the addresses I had saved in memory. I cant figure out why some MBDealers don't want to update it at the clients request
. Hmmm maybe they want to us to buy a new Benz in stead...
Hey also I notice its a button thats new button labeled Coord. Also Longitude and Latitude is'nt on the bottom any more I guess they made room for the ETA and stuff...

yes when u press cooed key ur coordinates pops up on the display.

When ETA is displayed, no Long./Lat, but if you switch display option to "display current location", then they are displayed like before.
Only played with it a little while, but the "coordinates button" is kind of interesting. As you stated, when pressed, your current location coordinates are displayed. However, notice the word "input" and the 2 arrow keys. You can change those coordinates to any geocode you want, then press "OK" and the map will display, with crosshairs, the location, on the map, of those coordinates.
I don't see a difference in the "mute" from before. Pressing the button during an announcement displays "voice announcements muted" just as it always did and mutes for the remaininder of the route guidance (pg 114 of the manual). What is the "new" mute feature that I'm missing ?

Just got my "service tool" disc from my local dealer. It was $9.97, thank you very much. Gonna install it in a bit and see if I can't turn my COMAND into a brick real quick.
Expect to see an ad in the Classifieds:
FS:W211 COMAND, have a gently used one for sale or trade if interested. It will fit all W211 models but won't do anything more than fill that big hole in the center of your dash. Best offer.

Welp,
Upgraded my COMAND in about 4 minutes total. Piece of pie. Now I have bluetooth signal strength on my map screen and I now can choose the ETA banner on the bottom during mapping.

Oh, and I'm running 2006.1 map disc, if that means anything to anyone.

It makes you wonder what took MB so long to put the ETA on the NAVI. What in the world can we use Degrees, Minutes & Seconds as a location guide for... or to enter a destination by coordiates? What am I, Ensign Sulu?

I did the update at the dealership, of course it took them half an hour to understand what I'm talking about and another half an hour to do it
. and all worked fine;
but the problem now I cann't enter a destination while I'm driving, I have to bring the car to a complete stop to enter the address or POI.; "hello Lexus"
