Not bad overall. However, the rear looks a bit like the Lexus IS. Can't wait for the M5. It's going to be a MONSTER. How come Mercedes-Benz didn't give more power to the W212 E63 AMG? How do they expect to compete with the upcoming M5 which I think is rumored to have close to 600 hp?

There are some insanely asinine posts in this thread, this being one of them.
MB's depreciate like mad, especially the big dog AMGs. S65s cost $180k new, you can get them 3 years later for $80k.
Also, I'm a bit confused how someone can know that the 212 has better interior materials when the F10 hasn't even been released. Maybe you should wait till you can sit in it.
I really like the F10, and it is a much smoother design than the 212 to me.

That 63 engine is just waiting to be killed off. Same with the V12s, it's only a matter of time. Remember the rumors about MB AMG bringing a V8 twin turbo to replace the 63 and 65 engines. I even think the rumors said they were going to use the M113 5.0L V8 and slap on twin turbos on that thing. Imagine the BMW V8 twin turbo is only 4.4L for both the 7 series (which pushes 400hp) and for the X5/X6M's (which push 550 hp). However, the predicted numbers for the AMG V8 TT were even better if I remember correctly. I just can't wait to see those engines come out on the market. The torque numbers were astronomical.

In fact, the current 7 series owners are a little miffed that basically every tech item from the 7 series, can be had on the new 5 series - and more - 8 speed sport auto tranny. All in a car that looks too close to the 7er, is going to be much cheaper, and has an extended wheelbase over the current 5er.

And if it is really good, then it will drive competition over at Merc for the next E-class to be much better.

You clearly can't tell any BMW's apart, as proof that you used a car that doesn't even look like the new 5. I'll say it again, it's called a "design language", M-B does it too, save for a few of the W212's gimmicks here and there (quad lights, rear fender hump), and an uglier rear end, it looks strikingly like a C-Class as well. The "over-blown C" comment has been used toward it itself.

The W203 and W211 look much more similar than the 204 and the 212. The quad ovals are present in both, with with the 211 being fully disconnected. The rear taillights are strikingly similar. The side profiles are almost identical, sans the length obviously.
The similarities in the 204 and the 212 seem far more subtle (creases down the side of the car, angle of the side of the headlights). I don't know how someone can say that other than the front and the back the 212 looks like the 204. The front and back are pretty big elements of the design.
I'd have no problem with the E and C looking more similar. I think they're both fine looking cars.
At first glance I still get the 203 and 211 confused when I pass them on the street, especially if I can't see the headlights. Maybe I'm just not enough of a car enthusiast.
Either way, the 3 and 5 seem far more similar than the C and E. I find that disappointing, as I don't think the current 3 looks very good.

I agree, of course it does to an extent, it's supposed to. However no more than the 212 looks like a larger 204 IMO, and no way more than a 211 looks like a larger 203, etc.
Either way, I've never really liked the new 3, but I think the new 5 is absolutely gorgeous! Great stance on that pic. I hope the M-Pack lives up to the potential I'm imagining it should have.

Man, I'm sorry, but the 212 and E-Coupe just look terrible in those pics, lol.
One great thing about the 5 is it's all about proportions, you'd be hard pressed to find a non-photogenic pic, or a bad angle, which is the opposite case with the 212. If I wasn't too lazy I'd post side by sides of each, and point out where the harmonious aspect of the F10's design really helps it out VS those same angles that would be found on the 212.
I think the F10 looks great in pics, but apparently many officials, writers, and regulars who have seen it in person are saying that it REALLY has a presence in real life that doesn't come across in the pics, and a very large character, although the dimensions are very similar to the outgoing model. If that's the case, it'll be like icing on the cake.

Thats great, go ahead and put your order in right now,dont even wait. The sooner the better for the W212 members. Soon enough you can finally leave this board and post on the BMW F10 boards. I have to be very honest, I never see you post on the W211 boards, which is quite weird,considering the fact that the W211 is your true love and passion, Why not indulge with fellow W211ers? I'd love to hear your response on this.

I've answered that question soooo many times already. I've posted less on the 212 Forums as I've finally started getting bored with the car altogether, however I've been upset about it enough, that my passionate car enthusiast side can't help but rant about it. I'll do it as I please, thanks.
Honestly, the W212 just isn't a nice enough car for me to ever buy, and if I'm not hot on it now, I can imagine how I'll feel in a few years. Unless I needed a good DD in the next few years, I'd consider one, as of course it's a great, solid, comfy, and safe car, but I need to like looking at what I drive.
I'm not a brand fan-boy, I've HATED BMW the past 7 years, now they release something well designed, so I give credit where it's due. M-B messed up the E-Class, at least for my tastes of course, so I also give criticism where it's due.
I don't post on the 211 Boards because I already know what I need to know about the car, and I don't come on a Car Forum to only have praising pow-wows.

I agree with you about the nose, the only part of the car I can't really get too into, too blunt, and I like how M-B has gone through great lengths to at least keep the grille at a slight slant, as BMW are just making these blunt noses (EU Pedestrian Regulations). It kind of gives off an SUV look at some angles.
I think the rear actually looks pretty decent, and seriously, I think the 212 has one of the worst rears of a Premium brand today, totally indistinguishable from lots of Toyota-esque cars, so I'm happy the F10's isn't at least "bad", to me, as agreed, of course it's all subjective. No one can deny that the 212 has gotten immense criticism and focus on it's hiney though. The F10 really hasn't.
