Despite my general feelings about the shortcomings of the airmatic suspension, I still like my e550 a lot. Given the choice, I would prefer a really good standard suspension and would be more than willing to give up the adjustability. No car is perfect and you would no doubt find lots of complaints about the competition on their forums. My opinion continues to be that these are fantastic vehicles, built like tanks, beautiful design inside and out, high quality materials and the best colors and paint jobs in the industry. My issues with airmatic have nothing to do with my fears of reliability, Mercedes has been using them for a long time and we have warranties and/or extended warranties, but that it is far from perfect and inferior to standard suspensions under many conditions. It almost seems like a prototype that is still under development, almost there but not quite. I am just providing my honest opinion, which is what this forum is all about, opinions and information. In no way am I suggesting you will not love the car to death. And from what I can tell from reading this forum over the last year and a half is that these cars are very reliable, no major issues at all. I don't think that that can be said of BMW or Audi. So relax and get psyched about getting perhaps the best production luxury sedan on the planet. Regards. Ned.
