Sharing..............

How in the hell can this dude enter my completely sealed LED type tailight ?

.

.

Must be since 2013 ( made in Europe tailight ) and only yesterday it migrated to a visible location ????
Can dry dead bug look so good for 11 years ????

My tailight is LED and totally sealed.
This type :

.
The blackie foam is only to seal light towards car body opening so water can not enter car body.

I think this is the bug species

I guess it's like the fancy open LED headlights
"open concept" LOL
bugs welcomed

your hairy bug looks more tropical than central European.
Google search can likely put a name on the type and region

I need to search your older posts to see how many times you've removed that taillight from your car.

There must be an opening somewhere. On a side note, software bugs are called bugs because of an incident in 1947 where a moth caused an electrical fault in the Harvard Mark II computer, so what you have here is an original bug....haha!

Does it also have something to with how the word "bug me" started?

Similar I guess. This is what Google AI has to say about that.

The slang phrase "bug me" means "to annoy or irritate" and is likely derived from the literal meaning of "bug" as an insect. Just as insects can be annoying, the act of bugging someone is to bother or pester them. The phrase gained further popularity in 1995 with the teen movie Clueless, where the character Cher uses the term "totally buggin'".

My '05 E320 had, from the day I bought it in '14, a rather long legged spider in the taillight.
I hate spiders.
I left it there.
It's likely still there today.

Yeah, tiny insects have a way to find their way into anything it seems. In one of my previous cars I had a bug that found its way into the third brake light and made it its final resting place.

Did you ever figured out where they got in from or perhaps didn't bother?

THANK YOU ALL OF YOU GUYS

I took a closer look at my old photos, DANG, the rear tail light is not 100% sealed like front LED 641.

I think I know what happened.

I been spending some days at my friend's private marina and at times due to my working gear in the trunk, I kept my trunk door open like 30 minutes or more.
Where I parked, it is close to some trees. I even got bird poo on my car paint work.
That is how the bug got in, must be., now that I know the rear LED assy is not 100% sealed.

This is the first time I actually carry lots of work gear inside my trunk and have it open for that long.....DUGGGHHH !!!!!
I will tear the hairy liner down and replace my Bilstein B6 to B4 while at it and get some fumigation smoke cannister. or use my ozone machine.

What an experience. Good thing it is not cockroach, I have phobia to cockroach.....YUCK !!!

Well, the bug has to have body squeeze capability like octopus.
The vent slits are very small, I HIGHLY doubt the bug can enter ............ I inspected the tailight some hours ago. So intrusion mystery still need solving
I relocated the bug to most left side.

I dare not shake bug into tailight interior, because if it is not dried up, its blood or liquid or juice..... can cause short circuit.

I

.

I ozone-ded my trunk. 400 gram per hour x 2 unit. For 30 minutes.

.

I turned ON my HVAC blower only ( engine OFF ) to create a bit of positive pressure using FRESH AIR flap open.
First it was 3 bar speed, later I set to 1 bar. 3 bar too much air loss to the sides of rear bumper auto vents.

.

Only need approx 13 amps ( 1 bar fan speed) and 0.5 amp is for battery charging. I love this Riden superb power supply.

Wet wipe my entire trunk floor and vacuum it too.

If you are not going to remove the insect (as others have done), then I'd give it a name and move along... I like "Swat"
