If modules are replaced, they might need to be programmed, or maybe not. Could all depend on which module you're replacing.
I would think that in your case, since you're doing so many things, that you could probably get a sympathetic tech to program everything for you all at once when you finish the work. Not that your door modules need changing.

I was curious about your approach but I'm also kindof fishing for an answer about whether I can buy door modules on ebay or not.

Finally got around to glueing some leather. Started with door/window trim plastic so I don't have to mess with the window frame anymore. Please understand, this is my first ever attempt glueing leather. The other 3 trim pieces came out a little cleaner and sharper ))

Love the way it looks! )

This is a replacement, but when I was installing it I noticed that it arrived with a scratch on it. Original one fell apart into multiple pieces. These rear vents are actually from Mercedes W210.

wow

Once complete, there will be no difference between this G-wagon and a brand new one coming off the assembly line. you pretty much changing every single thing on the car. even the tiny screws.
This is impressive. You need to get Mercedes to sponsor you somehow. Can't wait to see the finished product.

Can you share the part number for the screw plugs that are inserted into the stainless brackets you had made?

Also, is there a different part number for the front and rear rubber fender seals?

Part number for the black screw plugs is: 4609940145. These plugs are used all over the exterior of the body.

Front and rear fender flare seals have the same part number. They will need to be trimmed a little after install.

When are you planning on starting on the wiring for the blind spot & back up camera?

For the center dash, are you planning on updating the look to the '07 controls/appearance?

I need to run the wiring soon (before the interior goes in). It should not be a problem...

Yes, the dash will be facelifted to a 2007+ look. I was originally was going to install OEM 2007+ Comand unit, but now im thinking of going with the Chinese unit that looks OEM but has the backup camera, Bluetooth, etc... features built in and plug and play.

That would have been a pretty big project to switch to the 2007+ Command, it would involve changing the optical wiring from D2B to MOST along with the various modules.

Do those Chinese units have the D2B adapter? Otherwise I think you'll have to play around with the speaker wiring.

The Chinese unit come in two different versions one version is for cars that have fiber optics and the other version is for cars that don't have it. My car has fiber optic sound so I'll have to get the kit with the unit.

Keep in mind there are multiple fiber optic versions

2002-2006 w463 use the D2B system
2007+ use the MOST system

I believe the MOST system was later updated but I'm not that familiar or sure when the next change was.
