Replacing Tensioner Pulley

2006 ML500
Removing the drive belt to replace, I noticed the tensioner pulley has chipped on one spot; a good 3/8" chunk is broken off. The belt has started showing some minute cracks. So I tried to remove the pulley, the center bolt has a security torx bolt T50 (with a hole in the middle). Couldn't get the T50 socket quite into its place, only the tip of the socket gets in and slips when the socket is turned. So I decided to remove the entire tensioner assembly, I noticed then that I have to remove the electric fan to gain proper access to the bolt behind the pulley.
Is there an easier way to this seemingly simple pulley replacement? If not, I'll need the removal instruction for the fan. It's so frustrating to do all this work for this simple task.
Seeking you advice. Thanks.

The instructions say nothing about removing the fan.

Thank you Major.
Can just the pulley be removed in installed position? The T50 tip can only get in the socket of the bolt by a fraction on an inch, not enough to stand any twisting action.
Thanks

Then remove the fan or invest in this tool.

Thanks Major, except that it's an electric fan. Would you share that too.
