2004 CL Brake Pads and Rotors
Are they're any pitfalls to DIY brake jobs on a 2004 CL?
Dealer wants about $550 for rotors is there an alternative?

Special tools needed for '04 CL Brake pad change?
When I've done other cars, all Ive needed was a wrench to remove the calipers and a C-clamp to compress them. Is there anything else or is it that simple?

I have an 03 E320 so I'm not familiar with the CL model. The 2003+ E class cars have an electronic braking system that can be disabled by disconnecting it, then proceeding with the brake job. So far I've replaced my rear rotors/pads and will do the fronts in a couple of months. Rear parts came to $280.

You are absolutely correct Paul; it’s called Sensotronic Brake Control - SBC. Fitted to R230 and W211.
The SBC must be de-activated to prevent pressure build up.
Inadverted build up of pressure must be avoided when working on the brake system.
Not de-activated the pressure will build up automatically when you open a door/trunk, operating central locking, tuning key, depressing/operating brake pedal, parking brake. Failure to follow proper procedure may cause bodily harm or damage to the SBC system. SBC de-activation is available on the OEM tester and some aftermarket tools
