I have the V1 remote mounted under the front bumper witht he Mid City display on the cluster. It works great. Only wish it came with a rear detector. Also have the Blinder Laser Difusser for the front and rear. Very Clean install.
I have he Caliber in my other Car, but don't like that you can't get all the information on the display and its hard to mute.

I've owned most of the high end radar and laser systems at one time or another. The K40 is the worse! The V1 is much better, but suffers from a lot of false alarms. Take a look at the new Escort GPS based 9500is...amazing technology and performnce. I just swapped the Ferrari and SL65 V1's for this unit, and could not be happier. It has V1 sensitivity, without the false alarms.

The best combination is the Valentine One radar/laser detector and the Laser Interceptor laser jammer.

Would you mind taking some photos of your install? Where does the blinder for the rear goes?
Thanks.

Here are some pictures of the Blinder mounteted above the license plate on the trunk lid. The front ones are mounted in vent on the front bumper. The one in the middle on the front is the V1 in its weatherproof case.

Thanks for the pictures. Did you have to cut a hole in the vent?

I think V1 is not going to happen - they do not have a hiden detector and I do not want to cut the mesh and put the all weather box.
Anybody has k40 with the adapter from midcity to show the alarms on the monitor?
Anyone from bay area with photos/price/installer?
Thanks.

Not a W221 but here's my stealth V1 install in my W210 and I think there is a link on my thread to Rocks W211 hidden install. I also have a Laser Interceptor for Lidar.

K1 has a small sensor you mount on the front (no holes need to be cut).
And the one for the rear goes inside the bumper not on the license plate (does not need a visible line of sight). I can also integrate it in my command system and show all the alerts in the cluster.
PS: Radarking: I am asking for an honest opinion from other forum members, not an advertisment.
I see you post on every single forum advertising V1 (BMW, MB, Acura, Porsche)

Saw this when searching for an acceptable Radar detector install. Never heard this before. Is this true?
{However this solution will not work on w221 as S550 has infrared coating on the windows and will not let the signal through.}

No radar detector will work well behind any mesh grill. All grills due to their slots or mesh will attenuate the radar signal. This happens by the mesh or slats bending the radar wave. A simple example is hold your thumb and index finger up to a light. Bring your thumb and finger very close together but not touching. The dark bands you see are due to light being bent and interfering with itself.
A radar antenna can be placed behind a nonmetallic flat surface with minimal or no loss of signal.
Remote installation of a V1 is not smart. The v1 is a very good radar detector, and although other radar detectors are more sensitive than the v1, the v1's rear radar antenna and arrows is what makes it many drivers preferred radar detector. Remote installing it eliminates the usefulness.
The most sensitive remote installed radar detector is the Beltronics STiR+. It is the cousin of the Escort 9500di, but is more user customizable. It has all of the features of the 9500ci minus the laser shifters, and is significantly less expensive. If you chose to purchase laser jammers the AntiLaser Priority is the only way to go. The laser heads are much smaller and perform much better than any other laser jammer. It is the only laser jammer that jams every laser gun.

The Valentine1 is a windshield mounted radar detector. All you need to do is attach the unit on your windshield and plug the power cord into the cigarette lighter (or hardwire the power)
The Beltronics STiR+ is a remote installed radar detector. The radar detector antenna is mounted outside of the cabin of the car (somewhere in the engine bay just behind the bumper cover that does not contain metal) the wire from the antenna get routed through the firewall and plugged into an interface. The rest of the parts of the StiR+ get plugged into the interface; speaker, display, power source, GPS antenna and control module. The speaker, GPS antenna and interface are installed under the dash with the display and control modules installed in locations of your choice. They can be installed to look OEM or in places to conceal their appearance.
The AntiLaser Priority is a laser jammer that is a separate unit from the radar detector. The laser jammer heads are generally placed in the grill. The heads must be placed that they are level to the road surface and the front of the jammer heads are perpendicular to the long axis of the car. They must have a clear (unobstructed) view. They cannot be placed behind the grill. The jammer heads wires are routed through the firewall into the units CPU.
A control/alert unit (it has an LED and piezo speaker) is plugged into the CPU. Additionally, other modules can be plugged into the CPU. A bluetooth module that allows the unit to be controlled and alert to/by an iPhone,iPad or iPod; an external speaker and if desired a radar detection module that allows you to connect the Beltronics STIR+ antenna into the AntiLaser Priority for integration of radar detection and laser jamming into one unit.

I have a V1 mounted just to the right of the rear view mirror. Wire is run under the front edge of the headliner, under the top of the A pillar on the passenger side, under the fabric insulation strip and then into the glove box to the 12v outlet. Very clean installation (only a couple inches of wire exposed at the unit itself) and works great. I've had it in several cars. No difference in performance in the S.
