LETTER FROM MERCEDES BENZ ABOUT EXTENDED WARRANTY ADDENDUM
Greetings all,
I just received a letter in the mail pertaining to EXTENDED WARRANTY ADDENDUM pertaining to the EXHAUST VALVE ASSEMBLY. So, I was wondering if any of you may have received anything like this? Let me know. Thanks.
Interesting, maybe Konigsteiger will chime in with details on which VINs are included? He often has the actual service bulletins with these kind of details
PFL205.064 with M276.823 (Oil pump solenoid defeated)

I don't think it covers enough vehicles. I have a 2019 S560 with a bad right rear exhaust flap/actuator.
With no aftermarket extended warranty this would be out of warranty for me already. 56K miles currently. My repair date is the 24th and I hope the repair is covered.
Are they reimbursing those who payed for the repair already?

That does make me curious I wonder if anything at all changed for the subsequent model years that they decided the later model years aren't affected despite the fact they are.
Being skeptical, I when I saw the envelope my first thought was they are changing the coverage of the extended warranty I bought in November when I purchased my 20 GLS 450.

I believe they are. I'm going to contact my service writer at the dealership.
My first thought was the exhaust valves in the cylinder head as I was under the impression that there were issues, but with all the discussion on an exhaust system component I don't know now.
Seems this is for the engine exhaust valves in the cylinder heads. If the guides wear there could be a misfire and/or a Malfunction Indicator Lamp on in dash.

I had a misfire and CEL a while back but went away after replacing the spark plugs. However, the engine is consuming a lot of oil (1 qt / 500 miles) could the consumption be related to this?
I got it early this week. Had to look up the VIN to find it covered the '12 S450 I sold to my son when I bought our '18 S560. It's good for him until September of this year, when the time period expires.

I was curious if this applies to non-certified used cars bought from the dealer? I bought my 2016 E550 in March 2020 with 28K miles, I assume a lease return, and at the time didn't know you lose your warranty if bought from the dealer, unless it's "certified".
Why I can buy from Joe Blo and I get the warranty, but not from the dealer, I don't know.
I assume I get nadda, yet I just received an extension letter for a sub-frame corrosion issue that extends to 20 years/unlimited miles. I only care about this exhaust valve guide failure, which I have not received a letter for.
Since it's emissions related I was hoping, maybe, it's covered? I was unable to find anything via google.
You are covered.
The letter states "This extension of the Mercedes-Benz New Vehicle Limited Warranty applies to these vehicles regardless of ownership."

Where you guys able to confirm if this is related to the valves in the exhaust system or the engine block?
Does this have anything to do with the valve/flaps squeaking noise (near the exhaust) when the vehicle turns off?

.
does it covers the crank case ventilation? in June I had to pay 2000 to fix my GLC 300 2018 from that issue that turned the engine light on
