After following this forum almost daily for the past several years, I've noticed very few people posting about mechanical failures or serious problems with their W222s. This unscientific sample suggests to me that we're taking good care of our cars, and they're taking good care of us!

I'm in it for the long haul with my 2018 S560.. It soon will be up to 80K miles. Only a month left on the extended warrantee which is a little scary though. Hopefully if a motor mount is gonna go it'll be within the next month, lol
Given the complexity of the W222s , those seem more reliable than W221s as well . I have not seen a major breakdown in any W222s despite rolling over 150K miles either .
Car was bullet proof from new, for 6 3/4 years...Only thing I had go wrong with my 2018 S63 was that someone ran a red light 3 weeks ago and destroyed it, they totaled it so now I'm looking for a 2018-2020 S63 with under 45000 miles and carbon ceramic brakes. A needle in a haystack but still looking anyway. The new S63 is $224k plus tax so, I hope we don't have to go that route but we might. So so expensive. Dang....

Good question, that question never crossed my mind at all. I was too focused on trying to think in that person's shoes to damage a vehicle they are still financing and will need to continue paying the monthly when the car is gone from their hands. It didn't cross my mind wow that is a tough golf club.
Like what in the world were they thinking. That said, from what I read, that particular vehicle that was destroyed (thankfully not common) had an issue of engine turning off on the highway a few occasions almost killing others on the road and/or his family members. I understand his frustration but I do still believe there is a better way to express such anger.
Probably has too much disposable income and had to show off. Could have donated it to some charity or a high school auto shop class and let them know it's not road worthy.
After watching the video again, he may have been doing a commercial for the world's toughest golf club as it actually punctured the sheet metal! If that's the case,,, brilliant!!!

I have a 2019 W222. I have about 90K on it.
Runs fine, no issues.
Did all services at 47-50K and now will do another round at 110k.
My favorite S that Ive owned.
I’ve been delighted with my 222 S-65. 140,000 miles already. So much easier to live with than the 221 S-65.
221 car had a laundry list of issues while in my care. All annoyances solved for the 222.
That said... I didn’t enjoy doing sunroof rails in the 222.

I had a W220 S-Class and I can say with 100% certainty that these cars are holding up so much better than the S-Class of that generation, by orders of magnitude. To have so few problem in comparison, it really is an amazing feat given levels of complixioty involved in the design. I'm only at 47K miles and hoping for another 100K!11
