I have not really been following the new car. Is the body styling shown here the ONLY version, or will there be a less aggressive, more luxury based version as well?

It's the only version right now, in 55 and 63 trim. What trims will come after remain to be seen. Other versions including hybrids were mentioned so maybe they will be visually differentiated.

I noticed it as well. The manually installed wind screen is also seen in one of the 86 press release pics on the red car.
Have you guys noticed how much smaller the trunk capacity is in the 232? 8.5 cubic feet with the top up vs 13.5 in the 231.
All what matters for the daily driver has been taken away, including the amazing ABC. What a shame covered up by the BS marketing campaign.

Interesting there is not a piece of wood to be found in the new SL. Not as standard trim or an option feature. Once again, I know I'm old school but I have loved the wood in each of the (7) mercedes I've owned in my lifetime. Hate to see it go...

To our dismay, the wind screen on the 232 is the manual unit that covers the rear seats.

The pictures show 12 exterior colors, but the list under the illustrations has 14 colors, the additions being 740 Black, and 747 Red. I assume these are non-metallic. But still no non-metallic white.

The Porsche 911 Cabriolet has a fully automatic wind screen that is virtually invisible when stowed. I guess it was too much trouble for MB to offer a similar unit.

That is actually my only worry of how the SL performs as a top down car (in terms of wind buffeting). I dislike these clumsy manual screens that cover the rears seats and make them less usable for throwing bags in the rear, etc. If you pull the screen you have more wind coming into the cabin...

Almost baffling. The most technically
sophisticated roadster on the planet and the driver has to get out and manually install a windscreen. Clumsy for sure. Not an elegant solution and to think they had this on previous models.

Any one know if golf clubs will fit in the trunk with the top down? This was one of the deal breakers for me on the GTC. They barely fit in my R231 but this is a must have for me. Throwing your clubs in the front seat is NOT an option.

I don't think anyone really knows the answer but based on the cubic foot reduction from the 231 I have to imagine it will be pretty difficult, especially with the top retracted.

RBR mentioned in his video that golf clubs should fit.

740 Black and 747 Red are fabric roof color choices.

No non-metallic black or red paint at this time.

Absolutely! Wood trim adds so much luxury and warmth to an interior. Oh well, the “new and improved” SL has a huge, blinding touchscreen.

Agreed on the large touchscreen. However the wood thing is highly subjective, and potentially even generational? I personally find wood, especially glossy wood like the picture to be garish and only reminds me of my grandmothers furniture. Although I would have liked to have seen some of the open pore matte wood finishes that Benz has in this car, as those are quite appealing.

It might be “generational,” as I’m an old guy and cannot stand the “open pore” wood trims. Mine looks much more subdued when not in direct sunshine.

Agreed, and honestly to each their own, they should still provide the option for those who want it, rather than eliminating it all together. It's a regional thing for me, here in AZ that steering wheel would erase the skin from my fingertips in the summer.

Wow, side by side, the older interior looks much classier. The R231 had better paint colors, too. However, the SL55 performance line has absolutely everything I'd want it to have, without the AMG seats which are a bit uncomfortable. This is really going neck-and-neck with the 911 C4 and C4S roadster.
