Tint for the SL

I'm thinking about some tint for my SL. I don't want to go too dark and was actually thinking about 54 which I believe is the visible light transmittance. I also noted there is Charcoal, Grey and True Grey. My SL is Pewter metalic.

Suggestions please. Help an old guy (49) out.

I did 20% all around with a 5% windshield banner strip up front ...check w/ your state laws as well...darker is more cool in the hot summer days!

I did 35% all around (except windshield). It looks good on Steel Grey, and would look good on Pewter, IMO (I had a Pewter '03). Here is an older pic that shows my tint.

My state allows up to 35%. Not sure how much it is enforced though.

Thanks for the pic, nice car by the way. I'm thinking 35% might be the way to go for me too.

nice pice, the car looks sexy bob...

and Cal1, also keep in mind that you need to take your interior color into account when choosing a shade of tint. cars with dark interiors make the tint appear darker, whereas cars with lighter interior colors make the tint look less car.

case in point when i got my e500 with a white-ish interior tinted at 35%, it almost looked like it was only tinted 40-45%... don't worry about it too much though, as most good tint shops will warn you of this ahead of time and help you choose the right shade.

there are also many discussions on the benefits of ceramic vs. metallic tints (the main advantage of ceramic being that it doesn't interfere with cars that have radio/cell phone antennas integrated in the rear windshield - a problem the sl's don't have) but some still say they provide a nicer tint color/hue, and even increased UV protection, etc. You can read more about them here:

I was thinking about matching the tint as close as possible from the pano roof to my back window and going 40% on the sides. Does anyone know how dark i would have to go to match the rear window to the pano tint to make it all look the same?
