SL55/63/65/R230 AMG: overZealous1's build thread
The SL will look feminized to the
side in that shade, it has unique presence that demands bolder colorsEdit: Even the C63 in Pastel blue looks to be in panties (front shot looks ok but 3/4 rear shot def shows it's sporting G-String)
i see the voodoo blue every day at a dealership i drive by to work, and it is darker than these pics show. the marathon blue and voodoo blue are nearly identical in person minus the pearl in the marathon. i moved away from the grabber blue as that was a bit lighter.
i am feeling like a one trick pony to go with a color like the marathon blue again. the pita is the full panel repaint when ever a scratch or nick happens. don't get me wrong, i absolutely love that marathon blue, or i wouldn't have done it so many times in the past.
here is my chopper and my old 350Z in the back ground. i painted both royal sapphire pearl. the chopper though i misted with ppg blue to red harlequin over the base, then cleared. crazy to look at, but too much for a whole car imo.
i have to say, color impact by itself...........................phuk, i may be going pearl again. the grand sport blue is a slap in the face. got tons of compliments on that car and got invited with it to show at a big theatre here for the opening of the original fast and furious. yup, painted that color that long ago. haha.
no matter what color is chosen i am well sure not everyone in the world will like it or do it themselves. oh well.
spraying the jambs and rear fenders in my garage, the other 26 parts will be in a booth.
what a long road this has been!

t the two environments cause slight variation in the finish?

with the booth rental for all the other parts it would take way to long to get car there and then take apart. this way the car itself doesn't need to go anywhere and save on the rental. i'm not talking a couple hours of assemble and dissemble, i am talking days with this car!
while that does look good, painting has already begun. got the rear fenders and jambs done, plus all my little parts like antenna, the 3 parts to make the mirros, door handles and other little stuff.
voodoo blue it is. right out of the gun all the small parts came out perfect. no need to color sand at all, it is glass. the color looks a mile deep. kind of wild really. it is hard to explain. i thought it might be toned down from a pearl blue, but far from it!
i bought the voodoo blue a few days ago, but, i have to admit, i went to the paint store this morning and almost got the marathon blue. the people at the paint store both agreed the voodoo blue would look better. the paint pole thread also went voodoo blue 2-1, and it was my first choice at the start of this.
i think gloss black on everything else will REALLY make it pop!
