Send in the deposit and I'll add your name.. Up until just before the mold is started, the first run will be closed off.. So you still have an opportunity if you want to jump in.

I just bought a kleemann CLK55 and it has a E55 airbox that was modified to fit. Heres a pic (click to enlarge)

If I had an E55 I would jump on this.

Anyone on here with extra E55 airboxes that wants to sell? I am interested in trying to fit them.

VRUS if your guys at the shop are done with the set let me know if you want to get rid of them. No reason to clog up your garage with extra parts

Yup.. I want to sell them.. They are brand new and never been installed.. The stock airbox system was only used to take measurements. I thought they were going to hack them up, but they actually did all the designs on the computer and never hacked up the original AMG airbox system.

PM me with your offer.. You get airboxes, Y-pipe, connecting pipes for Y-pipe and factory air filters.

CF guys called me this morning.. They are trying to firm up the production schedule and will have firm dates by end of week or beginning of next week.

Mold and other tasks have already been put into play.

I have given them a mandate to make sure that you guys get your airboxes before Christmas and I was told that should not be a problem.

The first unit should roll off the assembly line in 4 to 5 weeks if everything keeps moving according to plan.

I will have the *official* word tomorrow, but, the info I got over the phone today was like this:

- First box will come off the assembly line in 2 to 3 weeks and will be put on my car for verification of fitment and for testing. I'll snap lots of pics and show you guys what we've got

- The CF airboxes will be sold with the custom 3 stage foam air filters that I am having custom made for us. The selling price will be $1600USD WITH the foam airfilters. These are special filters that are high flow and oilless.. Even Brabus is using something similar to what I had made for us! Anyone that is completely against this idea has the option of not taking the filters and most likely the price will be $1,525 or $1,500 if I can swing it. (so I hit my target price that I promised!!!!!!)

- The price of the CF airbox will be higher for anyone else that wants one outside of the 32 in the R&D group. I will have the exact number tomorrow.

Onward...

Oh Yeah.. Once the prototype rolls off the line and we confirm that fitment is 100% we will start working on the CF air tubes! I am going to try and replace the connection point that is inside the grille so that the opening on the driver's side can be increased.

3 stage foam air filters

If they are simaliar to the one's Renntech used ? They are cleanable. You can wash them it the laundry tub with mild soap & air dry. With a Hair dryer set on low temp & air speed. Not a problem from my end. ___PTE___
P/S hope to see you in Atlanta

I was thinking about this last night and I would like to ship out the foam filters with ALL the kits. The price of $1,600 will stand and you will get these 2 foam filters. They are a lifetime filter which only requires rinsing and air drying (just like PTE said).

The 32 people in the group paid $200 deposit.. We used $20 from each person to get the stock airbox assemblies + some shipping back and forth I had to do. That left $180 to be applied to the airbox. Each person has a balance owing of: $1420USD

The price of the airbox for anyone outside the R&D group will be in the $2,200 - $2,300 range.

I am treating this airbox system as a complete engineered solution and the filters are a big part of that. Different filters provide different flow and alter the air volume that is available in the airbox (some are deeper and some are more shallow). Once each of you receives the kit if you should decide you dont like what you see, we can deal with it then.

I ordered a few hundred of these filters because I am going to be selling them so there will be plenty available.

i have sent 206 to be in on this. i was wondering if you are making the boxes longer can't you make the front engine cover integrate with the longer boxes by providing mounting on the longer boxes allowing the front cover to be cut and then fitted to longer boxes. this would give the end results a more stock or finished look? just a thought.

The CF guys told me to cut the production at 32 people for the first run so they can get everything out before Christmas. We've got 32 people on board already...

I can take your deposit and put you in a standby spot in case someone drops out, but, other than that, you'll have to wait until second run to get one.

I refunded the money you sent.. If you still want in, just resubmit in CDN funds along with the TB money and I'll put your name on the list.

You can if you want, but, the foam ones are low profile and will increase the volume at the bottom of the airboxes.. They also are perforated on the bottoms & sides to allow airflow through.

The K&N, BMC, Green, and all the other cotton replacement filters you will notice have a rubber 3/4" seal all the way around the perimeter of the filter.. This means that air can only enter from the bottom of the filter.

On this new foam filter air can enter through the sides as well as the bottom.

The first filters landed here in Toronto yesterday.. I am at home sick today so I havent been able to go by and pick them up.. I will post pictures in the next day or two of the new filters.

Once the airbox comes off the assembly line I'll do a dyno test with my BMC filters & then the foam ones back to back.

That makes two of us. This stuff isnt simple to do and it basically takes as long as it takes.. Nothing gets done unless it is perfect and I am certainly not rushing it along any faster than it needs to go.

I was told first unit should be off the assembly line in the next few weeks. At that point I'll have pics and post them.

I am sure everyone (especially those who paid deposits) is anxious to see what it looks like.
