Anyone have a stock pulley?

After feeling some vibration coming from the engine after the asp pulley install I decided to send the pulley back to asp to see what was up. Turns out my installer didnt line the pulley up properly and now the keyway on the pulley is damaged and cannot be fixed. Instead of buying a whole new pulley I was wondering if anyone had a stock pulley laying around so I can send that out to ASP to be modified. Please PM me is you have one. Thanks.

You are going to have to check the actual woodruff key on the crank, if they damaged the pulley the snout of the crank should be checked.

Sounds like a super tech to me.

If the pulley was damaged there is a chance the crank is damaged too.
The damage caused by a key bound fitment is not visible to the naked eye, so when a "tech says looks fine" he has no idea. What you need to do is have a machinist take a look at it have it measured and blued to check contact patch with a new pulley.

FYI the original "tech" that F up the installation should be buying you a new pulley and covering the labor. As well, still on the hook for any damage to the crank.

Whoa, I hope you get things squared away painlessly.
Reading your bent and shredded threads can’t help but make one surmise that ASP is an acronym for ‘a sht pulley.’

Kudos to Jakpro1 for his assistance during your ordeal. Best wishes.

i have run a asp for a quite a while with no problems. i swapped for a vrp and see no difference. i even see a little optical wobble on the vrp pulley. everyone has to stop beating on asp. the install with a new bolt is the important part.

The pulley install is not difficult but for the guy to tighten the bolt with the key not properly set is well plain dumbass.... he obviously rushed it.

I would not let him try fit another!!!!

make them take the front seal off and check the full key and crank. If ANYTHING is a bit off or if there is any of the old pulley welded onto the crank, you will have balancing issues and will blow that thing. I've been there.

That is how James@Creative ruined mine. Seems simple enough but is actually quite critical.

As much as I am not an ASP fan, this has nothing to do with the pulleys. It is the install of any of the pulleys. If the pulley isn't nice and flush with the face of the motor then you may "twist" it a hair as you crank the bolt. That makes the thing wobble, which makes the screw back out, which leaves the pulley slightly on and slightly off. The damage on the pulley is literally from it getting torn up from the crank. Honestly, I doubt you can hurt the crank, because the matal is so hard. But, you can leave you metal on it which needs to be removed. Also, the key is a soft metal and usually gets shredded. I would at least ask that the key be replaced. If it can be, then that is a good sign that all the tracks are good. Then look for leaks from that front seal. If it holds up, then your installer lucked out.
I still wonder how James paid for that new motor....

The cost to replace that seal and key is nothing. I'd do it either way.
