Assistance please....C4S or used CL65
A little torn here. Completely different cars, I know, but not sure exactly what I want as a second car. Have the opportunity to pick up a 'new' 2008 C4S that is loaded to the gills for almost 25K off vs a lightly used '08 CL65. I have not personally driven either yet. I am keeping my E63 as a daily driver. The other car would be a 'fun' car. Not sure if I want more sport or more comfort.
Should I go used '07 or '08 977 turbo? Used cars now are a great deal!!!! I know there are risks and concerns about racing/tracking but some of the cars are a steal....
P-cars are drastically different from a CL65, but am a little torn between fast as @#!$% luxury coupe vs a true sports car. Help!!!!!!

fwiw, I have both a P-car and an E63 for the very reason that they are totally different.
imho, the CL and your E would be too much in the same sort of category. But then again, I don't know what you are really looking for(?)

I can see arguments for both cars. Ultimately, you (and your wife if you intend for her to drive it) need to drive both cars and figure out if the fun playing with the torque of the 65 trumps the handling prowess of the C4S. I would think the C4S's contrast with your daily driver would win out. Good luck!

'10 Porsche Turbo PDK, 500e, GL450
I don't know either. I'm young (but I'm old) as I love comfort and speed. Won't be tracking the car so not sure I need a 997 tt. A nice canyon carver would be nice but a CL65 would be great too for long trips and nights out on the town. The wife used to complain on the noise from my M3 w/ SS exhaust and the ride of the +1 rims and tires. If I get the CL65 we can both enjoy it but if I get the 997 tt or another P-car, I'd enjoy it alone mostly. Not sure which I prefer at this point

Nope. Just had the M3 at that time. Guess I should go drive the porsche and see if it moves me. I drove a friend's '09 Carrera S and didn't like the rattles, etc. We may have had it in sport mode. Anyway, I guess if I had good twisties or canyons it would be a no-brainer but without those I am not sure the porsche would be a good idea. My friend LOVES his tho, so there has got to be something to it.

I was in your shoes a few months ago and I picked the C4S. It's a different beast and driving experience is much better than my E55. Taking it on canyon carving is a whole different experience that money cant buy. Since then, it has become my DD and my 55Ks have been sitting in the garage. GL on your decision.

How's the ride quality as a daily driver? Are the 997tt pretty comparable in ride to the C2S and the C4S? Any benefits to gettting a tt besides the sledgehammer power? (as if that wasn't reason enough)

Wow, as a a previous owner of a C4S, I would definately go for the Porsche, skip the twin turbo because it still has turbo lag and you can't really use all that power. The C4S is a great handler, decent gas mileage and alot less maintainence. Again, if the wife has a part in the decision making, you'll probably end up with the CL65, which by the way is a sweet ride as well. My neighbor has one and he let me drive it and it was fun but wasn't a Porsche. The exhaust note is absolutely devine in the Porsche, that flat 6 can't be beat. Good luck and let us know what you decide and send us some pics.

It's great, no complaint at all and the fun factor is outstanding. I havent log much miles on the car ~ 1600miles but I enjoy every minutes behind the wheel. I test drove the TT, it's very nice but the C4S is the right car for me at this time.

I've driven a C4S rather aggressively in the past and have to say, I was completely unimpressed. Yes it handled well, but the 4WD without all that added power of the Turbo (which, I know, is AWD) was like a milkshake without the milk. If you're going to go with a Pcar, get either a Carrera S or a Turbo.

I may be mistaken but I think he's referring to the P-car's turbo lag, not the 65.

you really should drive a 65 before you make a choice. the build quality is so superior in the mb and the enormous torque is beyond description, and that's before you chip it. porsche's somehow have a reputation that i've never understood. very quickly i've tired of my various porsches and could not imagine , with all the other choices available, ever seriously considering one again. lots of cheap plastic and with their recent financial travails they are unlikely to be upgrading materials and will be forced to seek ways to aggressively cut costs.

Couldn't disagree more. Porsche aren't hurting, Daimler Chrysler are. Merc has more gadgets but P-car build quality is top notch.
