!!! ATTENTION !!!! - FUEL LEAK ISSUE HAS BEEN SETTLED BY DAIMLER-BENZ... 2014.12.23
My buddy got his car FIXED TWICE, because the stealership failed to change the fuel pump the first time (which had fuel pooling on top of it). The dealer even gave him an invoice, and told him "all new everything". So they will lie to your face just to save a few bucks.
And to those who got "all new everything", go out and verify the dealer actually installed the parts they charged Mercedes for!!
Go out and pull up on rear seat, open the two access doors, and verify the part numbers on sender and pump actually match what your service receipt says. You may still be driving the not so exclusive Mercedes:
The Mercedes Rolling Bomb, AMG edition.
To those who got "all new everything" (especially if you had a rental vehicle),
immediately go out and verify the dealer actually installed the parts they charged Mercedes for!!!

Apperantly this is a new part with pumps and senders in the tank. I asked the technician how much better it will be than the older version and he said we should be good for a while. We will see...
The Best of Mercedes & AMG
I've known of the W211 tank issue so I never had the tank full since the day i bought the car. I can't say that I have ever smelled gas but out of curiosity, i opened the 2 fuel pump covers earlier today. The drivers side is all good, no smell, dry and harness looks good.
On the passenger side however I see clear burn marks. When i pull the harness, the plastic is melted around one of the pins. See pics below.
Please tell me that this is covered under warranty as well because god forbid the pump does begin to leak. That will not end well...

Any one had luck replacing one without the smell?

Car started not starting right away crank but no start I already knew it had to be the fuel pumps called Keyes Mbz on van Nuys made an appointment took the car in told them the car won't start on cold days and I smell gas whenever I fill up a full tank they already knew what I was talking about and said its covered under warranty. They gave me a loaner got the car back runs like brand new and they didn't charge me a dime.. All in all good experience
You get what you pay for - Pay now or pay later.
And if you can afford a car like our beloved E55 and the maintenance when it's needed and not weeks and months later this car will go and go and go.
I will never sell my E320 or my E55.
