Quick and dirty draft might be all it takes. Get it on paper as they'll call you to discuss it anyways, which makes the letter only an intro. Main thing to point out is what you'd like for a resolution.

Check your pump and sender for fuel pooling up or fuel stink.
Fill up fuel tank to the brim, drive around a bit, the pull up on the front of the rear seat, then remove the two access covers under the seat, and remove the rubber gum cover. It'll be easy to see if there's problems.

I filled up the other day & got a very faint smell of gas, which went away as the fuel was used. I have a US born car here in Canada so not sure what my options are if I find fuel pooling?

I called MB in Buffalo & they have nothing showing on the "VMI"?? They said no open recalls on my car. When I go to the MBUSA site, I see the following under my VIN
NHTSA 05V133 & EPA3389 both as completed but not the EA13-003
In addition, I call MBUSA & get instructed to call dealer to remedy recalls. A perpetual circle now...

On here. We have 3 threads. Check all 3 outs there from konigstiger. If not I'll upload it again too.

The dealer must know by now, as the settlement was almost a year ago.
Tell the dealer to call MBUSA, and they will confirm. You can also call Mercedes customer number, and they will help set the dealer straight. A scanned copy of the letter is posted somewhere in this thread (one of the first few pages I think).

Thanks Hulk, I actually had seen that letter before but was looking for a more generic one, as in not to a specific person. I will call dealer about an "extended warranty" for NHTSA EA13-003.
I assume the senders are covered?

Guy at dealership acknowledged the warranty extension but obviously needs the car to diagnose. He also said the last person to get this done had to wait 5 months for MB to send the dealership a tank lol. He also said its a few days for the procedure.
I am hoping I don't book the car in just to find out it's something else, not covered under warranty

Usually if there is not fuel pooling, they will deny, maybe they have changed their ways. Yes it may take some time to get the parts in, I took a few months for mine. They will offer a rental at their cost if you want though.

I will check for pooling. A loaner doesn't work for me since it can't be driven over the border. I would take vehicle, get diagnosis & warranty confirmation, leave & come back when parts are in etc..

Fill it up and drive straight to them. That's all diagnosis they need. It smelled so bad we got headaches in our car after just minutes of sitting inside. Star Diagnosis won't tell them beep beep beep fuel smell. It is nothing a machine can diagnose good old mechanic with his nose is all its needed.

I have seen people get turned away with just smell, and get charged for diagnosis time you need to see the fuel pooling. If you got all new parts with just fuel smell you were very lucky.
