Feel like I should have someone change the title of the thread. Seems like false advertising.

Digging in. Very very clean. I’ll get some clutch pictures but man. This thing was just babied before I got it. It was then my wife’s daily, but I did get my hands on it for some days in the Canyons.

Planning on the alto reds kit and all seals and bearings. Seems like it already has blue tops.
nothing else too special but maybe that nice VB from whipple.

Can’t have it jerky though. Just right shifts when it needs to not slip.

hope to get through this pretty quickly and cleanly to move on to assembly in the car.

ha ha. I restored a barn find 86.5 928. Was parked in that place since 96 and I got it in 2011. Restored it and sold it on BAT in 2016.

I’m not a barbarian. I’ll spend time on the interior as well. Some real CF from oCarbon. Really pretty. Not sure what that white spot is on the vinyl below the cigarette capture.

Possibly from someone’s leg rubbing against it?

During the summer this happens in my truck when I’m wearing shorts

non arnott? Can you clarify? For the rear? I have cores from this car but not sure other than they were original. And the rubber outside is worn.

It means OE style.

Did it hold air? Don’t care if the plastic shroud is busted.

Waiting for a few pieces and it will speed up.

Need TC back from proTorque in the east coast and the VB from Oregon (whipple).

Also got the clutches and seals from southern Hotrod for the 722.6.

No kidding! Opened this thread to get impressions of a Bilstein PSS9 swap on a W211 and next thing I know the engine is out of the car and being taken apart.

Anyway, nice work. Can always appreciate someone taking their time and doing a thorough job.

I am behind on my updates.

I rebuilt the 722.6 with Southern Hotrod clutches (all new seals, bearings and all soft parts.
I had protorque rebuild and upgrade the torque converter (slightly higher stall).
Finally, I had our man Whipple up in Oregon redo the valve body for the higher pressures. Car will shift firm.

I have mated the engine and trans together ha shave it in the car.

I will be going to “the plumber” at the end of this week to get the fuel system worked out for higher flow and return.

I also received the suvneer AMG e63 bumper and will prep that for paint.

Essentially, the items/systems left are the intercooler circuit and rear tank, the fuel system, and the meth spraying.

The IC was single pass and has additional ports on the back of the unit. So that is the black hose I left on in the pics.

Getting to together.

Checking end play per manual.

New bearing at output as well as new seal and new nut.

Protorque Torque Converter.

Mating of the beast.

There is a crude analogy to sex here.

WOW! You have been getting s h i t done!!!! Man that looks great. Detail on the suspension and on the engine looks great. Oh and the V band clamps on the Headers, nice touch and smart.
Your car is going to be freakin awesome.
You are detailed oriented for sure. Too bad you’re not my neighbor, we would get along great. Lol.

I may want to get more info on your trans and converter work for a CLK55 project we’re doing.
I wish I could have done my E55 like what you’re doing but my car having roughly 60k miles I couldn’t justify it.

Thanks, appreciate your posts as always. Yes, if closer we would.

My personality type influences a combination of not wanting/being able to leave **** alone and only being motivated to assemble something I have disassembled **if** it’s clean and as perfect as I can do/afford. We will see how I did when I push the start button!!

Technically I will say to you now that the trans clutches were fine. Sure it was leaking, but I’m saving that crap if I ever own another 722.6. I can rebuild one in a few days now.

I despise random slip fit exhaust pipes. Just me, and I know they have a place.

I am concerned over shift harshness a bit now because of all the mods, but I can always delete the SGA VB and tone it back. I think it should be okay though.

Still have more work to do, but time is getting tight on my sons e90 we are suppose to drive to NY for college in Aug. My ocd is a double edged sword looking at it from the perspective of the azautohauz shopping cart for a 150k mile bmw. But it has to be reliable for the kid 3k miles away.
