The Life and Journey of a 2023 Mercedes-AMG E63 S Wagon

- new turbo to exhaust clamps new style (mine are leaking)
- new calipers - pads are banging around inside existing calipers, they don't know why and new pads didn't solve it
And I have a new thing for them to investigate:
Rear passenger door soft close seems broken or misaligned. From outside, can't get into the car unless REALLY reefing on the handle at the right time. It feels "stuck" and takes a lot of force overcoming friction to open the door. Have to really reef on it during the pause after the first soft close door whine unlocks and loosens - PULL AS HARD AS YOU CAN, otherwise right away you hear soft close whine cinching the door shut tight again.
Otherwise nothing to report besides putting winter shoes on soon.

Thank you for your detailed documentation.
I have notice the same when open and closing the doors. I began to think I was just pulling too quickly after I closed the door and not allowing the soft close cycle to complete. Interested to see what comes of this and what things are actually malfunctioning.

Is it raw and raring to go like a scrappy puppy chasing it's tail waiting for me to throw the ball barely able to contain itself?
No.
Is it faster? Yes. On paper. But I feel I have to floor it and wait.
Does it handle better? Apparently, but the old car seemed better and just "on rails" while still being smooth, while at the same time the old car gave feedback. You could literally drive over a dime and know. This new one as someone else put, seems like a E300 they threw more power at with "no pizzaz".
Am I enjoying it? Yes, for what it is. But if I really wanted comfort I'd get an S class, and that is what this car is to me - a W212 made "more comfortable".
I want edginess and a sports car disguised as a Station Wagon when in S+ or Race. The W212 is that. The W213 is not.
Am I disappointed? Hell no. It is an amazing amazing machine and I am very grateful to daily drive one.
Would I trade back for my old car? Hell no, it had almost 200k on it. BUT if they made brand new W212's I'd consider it...

Heavy rain, 40F, no radar traps out in this mess.
Coming home from a late meeting in another city.
Cruising with exhaust flaps open, 2000+ rpm in comfort, nice V8 hum. Great wipers, solid car, so easy to just eat up the miles regardless the inclement weather.
Occasional standing water makes your heart jump as you feel the wiggle. But in a happy way, you just keep your foot in it, wait for it, and are planted again in a microsecond all is well. The V8 just keeps purring making great time. Ratchet up another few MPH, blasting through the drops, almost home...
Heaven!

glad you're at peace. You never did get worked up about anything re: car issues, I imagine you're always pretty centered in your life no matter the conflict
cheers

I love this battery operated compressor. Good quality.
Used new hex wheel bolts stock length. The longer ones for comparison are used with the summer rims and spacers.
Set ride height to stock.
Let it snow!

Turbo clamps have smoothed out the rough idle too!

You could have bid on this one but look at the price it went for.
