The Life and Journey of a 2023 Mercedes-AMG E63 S Wagon

I tried to put the 15mm spacers on with the 285/35 tire on the stock 20x9.5 ET25 rims, effectively making them an ET10.
With the spacers the outside of the tire rubs the rear inner fender liner.
So I tried 12.5 mm spacers and the tire still rubs the inner fender liner.
I tried to slip a piece of paper between the fender liner and tire and could not.
No spacers and the tire JUST clears and I can fit paper behind.
So it appears the 275/35 tire size on a 10" rim with good ET is the max tire or it will most likely rub in the same place.
Anyone with 285's and aftermarket rims on the front? ET? Any rubbing?

Spacers off - no more rubbing and paper fits easy

With 15mm Spacer effectively making an ET25 a 10.5" wheel fits no problem.
I put the old 295/30 PS4 tire on the rim and put it on the front and left the car lowered - no issues or rubbing at all. I drove all around, hit the known dips and bumps, threw the car around, and 295/30 and a 10.5" rim fits.
Got me to thinking on my 285/35 rubbing issue. Maybe a 285/35 tire on a 10 or 10.5" rim instead of 9.5", would pull the front shoulder of the tire back 1/2" to 1" since the rim is wider in the back, effectively "moving" the tire on centerline towards the inside of the turning radius - maybe giving enough clearance to not rub?
Anyhow if anyone wants a 295/30 on the front on 10.5" rim it works like a charm. I bet if you went 10.5" ET20 instead of ET25 a 305/30 looks like it might even fit.
A 295/30 10.5" square setup would be so cool! I'm going to play with the back next when I have some time.
10.5" ET 25 with 295/30 PS4. ET20 or ET22 would be even better. Yeah I'd do ET22.
10.5" ET25 loads of room with 295/30
ET22 or even ET25 would be even be better giving more room on the inside and making the rim be more flush coming out a few more mm
Zero rubbing lowered and driving around
Looks great
That cheap black rim has me thinking. Hmmm.

I also LOVE some of the really funky aero type wheels from E6Carbon. Those SL10-R's on the GT look absultely amazing.

I had forever wanted TE37s on my wagon, but their available sizing left me too afraid to pull the trigger. I did find a guy on Instagram (@papiflyy) that had a Diamond White Wagon with TE37s mounted, which looked freaking AMAZING!!!
But I'm too dim-witted to figure out how to attach the picture here.

I should have kept the forged ones too. Funny, they were REALLY hard to sell, it took a year and I kept dropping the price and ended up "throwing them in" to get my W212 sold for a good price. Now when I look for the forged online - egads! they are pricey. I wonder if any actually sell for good money or just sit for a year or two like mine did.

So yeah.....they are pricey. I have my 5 stars/10 spokes for sale. They are in great condition with good PS4's on them and I have them listed for $2k on FB Marketplace. Not a single serious inquiry. However, they are sitting in a climate controlled room out of the way and I really don't have to sell them, so unless I get what I want they can continue to sit.

New tires are Tucked! It’s hard to tell but there’s a good inch of tire up in the wheel wells.
Will try lower tomorrow
Zero rubbing with the big tires
Fronts are 11mm taller then stock, 5mm ride height gain.
Rears are 35mm taller and 18mm Ride height gain!
Front to Rear is 1.8% well under the 3% threshold.

Any other tire sizes and rim widths too.
Very cool! Looks like there is hope going wider rim and better offset the 285 may still fit with flush stance. Will try as soon as I swap the winters on.

I will say it may not be for everyone. I love it.
The bigger tires took the jarring banging "am I going to bend a rim" slamming that being lowered can indroduce.
This also means turn in is a little slower and the car is not as nimble as it was on the lower profile tires. The car was never crisp to begin with, and now it is less crisp. So if that will bother you, don't do it. Personally I prefer it since 99% of the time I am driving in traffic on ****ty roads. To me the less sporty feeling is a good tradeoff for our roads in Toronto. They are so bad, have so many streetcar and railway tracks, winter heaving and hug potholes. For my use it's the perfect setup. If was in the south or somehwere with good roads I would probably do a 21" and 30 series instead. Or stay 30 series on the 20's.
Bonus for me, I *love* the meaty look. Other people like stretch or stance or lower profile but I love meaty so much this setup rocks.
Future: I am testing the 285 on some wider rims, and if it works, I am going to widen the stock rims 11" rear and 10.5 or 10.25" front. And the whole reason for this, is, to make it look and feel a bit more sporty and square up the shoulders. I'm farily certain the oversized tires on the udersized rims that make the sidewall angle out and not square (or slightly stretched) is introducing uneeded floatiness. And safety issues when not driving miss daisy. As soon as the wheels are the right width I think it will bet the best of sporty and less bang on bumps. Right now it is a teeny-tiny bit too floaty but if it had to stay like this I'd still be happy. I do hope the wider rims takes it to the next level. If it won't work I would consider going down to 295/35 275/35 the next round of tires and running the 15mm/12mm spacers again.

10.5 ET40 too much poke pics below. So the Ferrada’s are out.
Is ET45 the perfect fit for 10.5’s and 295? Or is it ET50? 45 has the same poke (88mm) as 11’s in ET52. But they also have 14mm less inset which means the tire will center outward more too. But Less 5mm a side tire going 305->295. My head. Hurts.
Thinking about square 295 on10.5. Maybe just do 11 on the rear and 305/295? I dunno though, something about square setups gets me going if I can get the same look front and rear.
Oh and I hate all aftermarket rims again. Still searching.

Just my opinion and not meant as an insult or negative comment towards your fitment trials.
Keep up the awesome work!

I don't evven think you could go over a marginal bump without cutting the tire or baconing the fender.
BUYER BEWARE

And like most things in life - I will try to re-invent the wheel (literally?) and then come to the conlusion that 20x11 ET52 and 20x10 ET10 that everyone runs is the perfect fitment and also like the story of my life "I should have listened" and skipped a bunch of lessons.
