Mercedes-AMG SL63 Takes on All Challengers in Drag Race

By -

This Mercedes-AMG SL63 driver doesn’t care what you line up against her. She’s going to win.

While many other supercars get more press, we in the know are well aware of the Mercedes-AMG SL63 and its capabilities. Packing a 5.5-liter twin-turbo V8 producing 577 horsepower and a 7-speed automatic transmission, the attractive convertible takes a mere 4.0 seconds to reach 60 mph. Which is pretty darn impressive. Not to mention a pretty darn far cry from the more “relaxed” SLs of the old days.

When you line up a new Mercedes-AMG SL63 against the competition, the results are rather impressive, as you can see in the above video from Cvdijden on YouTube.

With long blonde hair flapping in the breeze, the driver of this SL63 lays waste to a variety of contenders. After getting her feet wet against a surprisingly fast Mercedes SUV, she gets the jump on an S63 coupe. That race starts out looking like a wash, but the big coupe makes up a ton of ground on the big end. Which wasn’t a huge surprise, of course.

But after treeing the S63, our Mercedes-AMG SL63 heroine lines up against nothing less than a Liberty Walk-built Nissan GT-R. Which we fully expected to see it lose to in a blaze of glory. After all, even a stock GT-R should theoretically smoke this convertible, no matter how bad the driver is. But then, something amazing happens.

Our tuned Nissan doesn’t stand a chance from the get-go. Both cars get a pretty even start, but the Benz just maintains its lead the whole way down the track. Which is pretty darn impressive, we’d say. Of course, we’re assuming that the SL63 is stock, but who knows. Either way, kudos to the driver for their trio of victories and some pretty darn good driving!
