Hi guys, got lost in all those guides.
I have 2004 CLK500 (comand sys) without any cell prep (nothing in hand-rest compartment ) and i would like to have a bluetooth with voice control and without cradle.
Could someone please tell me all parts, cables and other parts what i need and how much this sys could cost.
Thank you in advance.

I have a question about PSE.
By the Phone Bulletins i need a PSE “Auto Sense” (SYN 9266B) Q 682 0845, this is the straight V60 PSE but im not planning to use V60 cradle i want to use V60 Cradle Eliminator Cable PN Q682 0976.
So my question is, could i use Universal PSE PN Q682 0971 instad? Are they same size and shape to fit to the installation bracket?

Dimitri, the short answer is, use the "cradle eliminator cable" and a V60 puck together with your existing 0845 PSE. It may work just fine. If it doesn't, then the Universal PSE will replace the 0845 PSE and fit just fine. You will not need version coding done.
I continue this response a bit more broadly than your question, because this area has caused confusion - and unfortunately the time limit to edit post #3 in this thread expired long ago, and I cannot rewrite it to make it clearer. The thread at http://www.benzworld.org/forums/audi...ades-plug.html is more recently edited and up to date. I wrote the answer below for a member of another forum just a short while ago, but it addresses your question as well. I hope it clears thing up for you and for others.
Mercedes uses names for three devices that do little but cause confusion.
1) There is the "cradle eliminator" (PN B 6 787 5856) - the V60 puck, used with pre-CP-211 systems that use a PSE (StarTac, TimePort, or Autosense) phone controller. It must be used either with a V60 cradle (preferably a V-60S cradle for better fit) or with a "cradle eliminator cable," below.
2) There is a "cradle eliminator cable" (PN Q682 0976) that connects a V-60 puck to the connectors in the console of D2B-equipped cars that do NOT use the CP-211 phone controller.
3) Then there is the "cradle replacer" (B 6 787 5855) used with the CP-211 system found only in the MY '03-'04 E-Class, '04 S-Class & '04 CL. It is generally referred to as the "puck with tail" because the cable is built into the puck, and it uses entirely different connectors in the center console. The CP (Communications Platform) 211 combines the cell controller and a Tele-Aid module in the same unit. In cars using the earlier systems, the PSE and Tele-Aid equipment are separate.
For convenience, the PSE part numbers are as follows: StarTac PSE has part numbers Q 682 0460 or 9460, SYN 0234 A or B; the TimePort PSE has Q 682 0648 or 9648 (I don't know its SYN); and an Autosense has numbers Q 682 0754, SYN 9266A or B. The straight V60 PSE had numbers Q 682 0845, or 0886, SYN 9266B. The "Q" numbers may also show "BQ" (BQ 682 etc.).
The MHI system replaced both the PSE and the CP-211 in cars that were equipped with the MOST fiber optics bus, beginning in MY '05; it is entirely different from the earlier D2B systems. If you have doubt about which system a car has, check the phone bulletins at http://home.earthlink.net/~phdwebsit..._bulletins.htm - if they say on the first page that your car has a MOST fiber optics bus, then you have an MHI system (U.S.) or UHI system (Europe). If it mentions a D2B bus, then look to the part number list at the back of the bulletin; or at the type of phone and cradle options described in the photos in the bulletin. Of course, the surest way is to look at the label on the PSE that is actually installed in your car.
Just to clarify: The MHI puck part numbers for North American cars are B6 787 5839 and B6 787 5878 (both silver and blue) and B6 787 6131 (smaller, and black). The 5839 puck is older and its firmware is less compatible with newer phones. No differences are known between pucks 5878 and 6131 in terms of electronics and firmware. Both are compatible with a wider range of handsets than the 5839 MHI puck. The MHI pucks are NOT compatible with earlier phone systems. Nokia also makes pucks that are compatible with the MHI system.
If your 0845 PSE (and for other members, the earlier StarTac and TimePort PSEs) has a blue label as described (a very informal "label - either a blue stripe across the original label, or a blue dot about 1/2 inch in diameter, or possibly even an entirely blue label) - it should work with the cradle eliminator cable and V-60 puck combination. It will not work with the "puck with tail." Unfortunately I have little information on the 0845 PSE - it is a later unit, and may not have needed the firmware change that the earlier PSEs did, that resulted in the rather informal "blue label."
If your PSE is not a "blue label"" unit, you will need the "Universal PSE" (PN Q682 0971) that was described in post #3. You would lose little by trying the 0845 PSE you have with the cable and puck as described. If it doesn't work then replace the PSE with the Universal PSE. No version coding should be required.
One could use a V60 cradle and plug a V60 puck into it. However, the cradles are very hard to come by now, and the cradle that fits best, the V60S cradle, requires adapters to plug into the pre-CP211 cars. You're better off using the "cradle eliminator cable."

Dimitri, some of this this is covered in the early writeups. If the ones on this forum aren't clear enough, try post #3 at http://www.benzworld.org/forums/audi...ades-plug.html
If you are going to a Bluetooth setup, which apparently you are, you do not need the linear compensator, and you do not need an antenna switch. They connect to a plug-in phone, which you will not be using.
The rest of your list is correct - but you may have difficulty finding the "kits" - since they were discontinued. It may still be possible to order the individual components of the kit. The link I gave you has information on that.
I have no idea of what compatibility the various pucks have with the hundreds of phone options available. I suggest you search the web for more information; or, as I have advised in the writeups, ALWAYS buy a phone with what is compatible with your car. That is MUCH simpler than trying to rig the car to be compatible with a phone. You should install the equipment in your car, THEN test the phone you want, before buying.

Dimitri, Skylaw is the resident authority on this, but I'm happy to toss in my $0.02 as someone that installed OEM Bluetooth in my 2006 CLK. There's a guy named Keith Valentine that goes by the name "cellguy" who has helped many members over the years (he's been installing phones in MBs since the 80s). Google him or search on eBay; he'll put together a "kit" with all the parts needed for whatever car you indicate, and provide install instructions (he even gave me "live support" via cellphone while I installed mine). I think my kit ran about $600. There are 2 pucks available, the 5878 and 6131; the former being the older/larger/cheaper one and the latter the newer/smaller/more expensive. I've used both with my Blackberry Bold 9300 and haven't noticed a difference. My wife uses a 5878 with her iPhone and gets a message "address book full" for whatever that's worth. I will also say that when Keith itemized the prices in my "kit" I found I could get the puck cheaper on this forum so I had him remove that from the kit (I'll be posting my 5878 for sale soon). Keith can also help you if you want a MB-compatible phone that'll work through the car's antenna, but for many of us that's overkill. He himself lives in some remote area of CA and says that's the setup he prefers.

Keith Valentine is a very good contact and is listed as a good parts source in the first post of the updated How-To Guide on BenzWorld. Keith Valentine (Cellguy85), http://shop.ebay.com/cellguy85/m.htm...1&_from=&_ipg= - also Tel. 714-746-5930 (voice only, no text) or cellguy@live.com
However - Dimitri's car is an '04 and eddie045's is an '06 using an entirely different phone setup - the MHI system. The 5878 and 6131 pucks are for the MHI system and are not compatible with Dimitri's earlier system. Dimitri must use the V60 puck.
I have added this information to post #304 above, since its absence possibly caused some confusion.
One more thing - I am not trying to "poach" MBWorld members - but as I have mentioned, MBW has a relatively short time limit in which posts can be edited, and the initial posts in this thread are 5 years old. With moderator privileges on BenzWorld, I am able to modify and edit very old posts to keep them current, and I have. For that reason, and only for that reason, the How-To Guide on cell phones at http://www.benzworld.org/forums/audi...ades-plug.html is more recently edited, more current, and less confusing, with the bulk of the necessary information in the first 7 posts. If you find yourself lost or confused in this guide, please check the one in the link in this paragraph.

I confess I didn't fully read Dimitri's circumstance and my puck experience is not relevant; I just always recommend Keith as a purveyor of truth and quality.

I can tell you that installing my own MHI/UHI etc (or whatever all that was) is what empowered me to attempt many other mods. Today I hope to repair my sunroof with that confidence!

First, I have to thank Skylaw for all the info and dedication to this thread. Five years is a long time to be actively helping folks with their Bluetooth and phones.
That said, I am the new owner of an 01 E320 that came equipped with the voice control system and V60 cradle and puck. I found this thread and within minutes had my phones sync'ed and was up and running. All my phones from an LG envy to my wife's Razr M HD and my sons Samsung Galaxy S3 work without a hitch. The two android phones automatically downloaded their phone books. The LG didn't, but I did not expect it to. Amazing that a system so old can still function with today's technology.
Again, thanks to Skylaw for the wealth of information you have provided over the years.

Hi all,
I know I am a bit late in this thread as mentioned before 5 years on any forum is a long time. But I wanted to say and pose some details that I am wondering about.
1. The B67875856 V.60 "puck" is actually called the "V.60 Cradle Adapter" as the puck can be added to the V.60 cradle that the old Motorola phone would have been carried in.
The BQ6820976 or Q6820976 is called the "V.60 Cradle Eliminator" cable as it eliminates the need for the aforementioned V.60 phone cradle. The cable on one end uses the same connector in the armrest/console as the cradle would have used and the the other end is a v.60 connector to plug into the "puck".
The BTUM B67875855 puck is called "V.60 Cradle Replacer" as it essentially "replaces" the notion of the cradle altogether. The connector for the "Puck with a Tail" is very different than the connector end of the "Eliminator" cable and V.60 cradle. Also, this puck is made to work with the CP-211 unit; which as mentioned many times before in this thread, combines the PSE and Tele-Aid functions into one unit.
There is also a BMW BTUM which uses the Motorola part number 84110410144. It looks exactly like the B67875856 puck, but is noted to be compatible on the cars that use the hardtail puck. Now I don't know what cable is used by MB owners that used this, but it leaves some intriguing issues that lead to number 2 on my list.
2. I believe that the circuit board and firmware is essentially the same between all three puck types. I think that the the biggest difference is in how these pucks send their signals out via either the connector port on the puck itself or on the end of the cable that is used to connect to the console/system.
I propose that it may be able to get the pucks to work on any of the cars if the cable connection is pinned out and adapted to what the console side is looking for. That an adapter could be made to connect the puck's cable and convert it to the connection type used by the console.
Now there could be issues where certain commands may or may not work as there may be a few discrepencies between the PSE and CP-211, but from what I have researched and seen, the PSE in the old pre-2004 cars and the CP-211 PSE functons are the same, just a question of how the puck can connect to these devices. What I am personnally interested is doing a reverse mating, where instead of adapting the B67875856 to work on the later CP-211 based cars. I am looking at converting the CP-211 based pucks (B67875855 and possibly the BMW BTUM) to work on the older PSE based cars.
I would like to see what Skylaw thinks of this and anyone else if they have any ideas as the B67875856 pucks have now reached riddiculous levels of cost and lack of availability in comparison to the other pucks, I think it would be worth while to do this, if possible. Any thoughts?

Thanks for adding the proper names of the pucks; I had updated the first 7 posts in the companion Guide on another forum, but MBW allows only a short time for such updates, so I could not do it here.
It is possible that the CP-211 "PSE" portion is the same as the Autosense PSE; I seriously doubt it would be the same as the StarTac or TimePort PSEs. However, I have no confirmation that this is the case. It is likely, but not a certainty that the firmware is the same between the V60 5856 puck (cradle adapter) and the 5855 puck with tail (cradle replacer). As you and I have both mentioned, the connectors between the "tail" portion of the "puck with tail" and those on the 0976 "Cradle Eliminator cable" are different.
And you are correct that the COMAND firmware could be different between cars equipped with the CP-211 and those equipped with the Autosense and earlier PSEs.
Given the increasing lack of availability of the B67875856 "Cradle Adapter" your experiment would be valuable. I have seen conflicting reports on the BMW BTUM - some folks swear that work fine, other report problems with them. I suspect firmware differences are the reason.
My advice to owners has always been conservative, so as to be sure folks get the equipment that connects properly to their cars' harnesses and existing wiring. I am certainly open to any experiments that would address the parts shortage that seems to have developed.

Newbie
A real cheap way if possiable
I have a 2003 sl500 and have a lot of access to Mercedes (junk Yards)
as i own a auto repair shop. My question is can i get some used parts (pse what year and color) Cradle and what ever else i need. because i could find a car with a phone already installed and use that pse and other parts and i wouldn't have to worry about coding the pse and buying everything just a puck. And no there is not a phone in my car and it doesnt look like there was one.
Thanks-Nate

Yes, you can certainly do that - except if your car never had an MB phone, it would have to be version-coded with DAS for full functionality. For part numbers, etc. see the thread at http://www.benzworld.org/forums/w220...tart-here.html - it is more up to date and more recently revised.

I believe you have the complete installation. Once you connect the Bluetooth dongle (puck) to the MHI contact plate, you should be able to complete the pairing procedure. To do that, you must follow the pairing instructions for both the MB system and the iPhone. You do not need further drivers or updates.
The puck instructions for are at http://www.wireless4mb.com/page18/page18.html. You should already have your iPhone manual. The code you need to enter into your phone to complete pairing is "MBUSA"
I hope you followed the link I gave you above; that thread is a bit simpler to follow (because I can and have edited old posts, which I cannot do here). I don't provide pairing instructions because they vary with every phone.

Maybe you guys can help me out.
I just purchased an 05 c55 amg, and it has the whole MHI kit installed. I do not get power to the contact plate and am using a known working puck.
I verified by the install instructions that I have everything setup correctly in regards to the fiber optic cables etc.
My mechanic has a star computer and he was trying to configure the MOST ring but when he adds the handsfree component, it still says vacant in actual ring.
Is it normal to not get power to contact plate/puck if it is not coded with the option? The car I purchased was a demo car, and I bought it from the original owner. The build list for the car did not have the phone options so this was definitely retrofitted. The first owner said they have never attempted to get bluetooth working nor had any desire.
Any help is appreciated.

You should get power to the contact plate regardless of coding. Version coding will ensure that the fiber optics controller recognizes the device, and ensure you can use all of its features - but has nothing to do with power.
First thing I would check is fuses. In some models, fuses must be added when the system is installed; see http://phdwebsite.powerpulse.cc/Phon...0C%20Sedan.pdf Also, double check the rest of the connections (especially the copper wire electrical ones) per the phone bulletin for the car - the installation in your car is a bit more complicated than most, and it would have been all too easy for an error to have been made.

I made sure the fuses needed in the instructions were there and the fuses.
My mechanic used a circuit tester device ( the one you connect to ground and when you touch a pin it lights up ). I am not getting power to any if the pins in the black connector.
Even tested the pins in the transmission tunnel with the black connector and no power. I now have to figure out where that black connector that leads to the contact plate, where it leads to from inside the transmission tunnel to the rest of the car/harness :/

Need your assistant please
My car is a 03 E55 with OEM mobile cradle part #A 211 820 14 51.
As I advised I bought the puck with tail, part #B6 7 87 5855.
Took me 15 minutes to uninstall the OEM cradle, I plugged in the connector of the new puck to the same harness where the cradle was connected to.
Problem is I don't get any reaction from the puck- the button on it won't blink or light at all.
Need to mention before uninstalling the OEM cradle once I pressed the number buttons on the command unit I could hear the beep of it in the cradle (like when you dial a number).
Now- nothing.
What am I missing?
Many thanks!
