edan82, once again you are giving us incomplete information. You do not say for what location you are trying to equip the car.

To bring other forum members up to speed with out offline correspondence: You have a Euro spec car from the UK, right hand drive, with the cellular support equipment pictured. You bought a Puck With Tail that did not work this is because you installed it in a Euro spec car, when that device is intended for the CP-211 used in North America. The thread states pretty clearly in the first post that it is intended for U.S. specification cars (in fact, it covers North American specs, because Canada uses the same equipment).

In your photos I note some Nokia equipment. This suggests that the cradle you originally had was intended for a Nokia phone - a type often used in European installations. That is consistent with the fact of the vintage of the car, and the fact that it came from the UK.

Now - tell us where you are using this car, and perhaps someone can help. I cannot - I am not familiar with European systems. I have, however, given you the name of a member who is - but if you contact him, please provide all of the information, in one place.

Diesel Benz, the member I referred you to, has responded at post #612, http://www.benzworld.org/forums/audi...s-plug-62.html - but I don't know if he was aware of your location, and whether it would change his advice.

Finely, i resolved my w215 CL55 Bluetooth problem. Just like the broken speaker wires that run thru the doors, the 10 pin phone cable that snakes thru the center console was also broken. Replaced it and Bluetooth puck fired right up and pairing, downloading phone book from iPhone 5 was quick and simple.

Wow it only downloaded part of my Contacts. The Unit does not hold enough memory.

So reduced the number of contacts think that we i paired up again it would download the new list.

Not so. The old list is still there and I can delete it

Anyone have any suggestion

Reading the 14 pages of this thread has managed to make me more confused than ever.

Simply put:

Can I use my iPhone 5 in my 2005 CL65 with the Bose sound system as a phone and to stream music from my phone via cable or BT, or just phone through the stock HU?

If I can not fully integrate it into the factory head unit, other than loosing the use of the steering wheel audio/phone controls what other functions would I loose by going to a full aftermarket system including a head unit?

Just got my car today & already missing hands free phone & my own music selections. Thanks in advance for the advice.

I think the basic problem in where to look is that you consider A2DP music streaming to be a cell phone issue, and I regard it as an audio enhancement - adding another audio source. It affects where to find things.

I can understand why you might think of a thread titled as this one is might cover adding features that various cell phones incorporate - but the second paragraph of the first post should have made clear that it is focused on adding cellular equipment to cars that don't have it, or upgrading plug-in systems to Bluetooth. I understand why you might believe that adding A2DP capability would be covered by Bluetooth - unfortunately, when I first wrote (and even re-posted) this thread, A2DP was not in use in any Mercedes and not common in any system. As it became available, in my own logic, adding it becomes an audio system modification, simply another audio source - and that's where I addressed it (to the extent that it is addressed). For that reason, the treatment of A2DP add-ons to iPod integration is in the Audio Enhancement thread at http://www.benzworld.org/forums/audi...hancement.html

The other complication is that, not being a moderator on this forum, I cannot go back and make changes after a certain limited amount of time has passed. I can make such changes on another forum, and that is where I keep fairly significant threads up to date. To the extent that I have information (from others) on A2DP additions, they are at the audio system enhancement link given; also, for the same reason, the How-To Guide thread at http://www.benzworld.org/forums/audi...ades-plug.html paste is more current - and in that thread, if you don't find an answer to a general question in the first seven posts, it would be best to do a search.

The short answer to your question is that 1) You need an MB MHI phone system or a 3rd party system to use cell phone telephony functions in your car; 2) In cars of our vintage, you need an A2DP adapter plus an iPod integration setup to use music streaming; and the A2DP streaming will handle only music, not telephony functions. The MB phone system will handle telephony while the iPod system handles music. 3) 3rd party combination add-on units such as the Dension Gateway series are available that will add phone and iPod functions both, and either an A2DP adapter - or some have built=in A2DP, IF the unit is compatible with your particular head unit. There are units made by companies other than Dension, but my own experience is with that brand. 4) You can replace your head unit with a 3rd party unit such as those made by folks such as Alpine, Kenwood, Sony and the like. Since your car has a Bose audio system, it will be fiber optic. The problems in bypassing the fiber optics are discussed in the Proimer link I gave you. There is a device called the OPTI-1, marketed by Nav-TV, that allows 3rd party, non-fiber head unts to integrate with the existing Bose fiber optic amp.

2006 sl55 030 option - sold
Hi skylaw , I have a 2006 sl55 and I;m going to buy used parts and attempt to install them in my SL55. I have read up on this and think I can do it. I found a donor car (2007 SL )in L.A.
From what I can tell , All I need is the , puck , puck holder with wiring , VCS module , activation handle , MHI and maybe a most connector.
I do think after I'm done I need a Mercedes scan tool to turn it on
For the install I think I can go by the bulletin for a 2005
I will keep everyone posted , any thoughts would be great

Bluetooth music

Hello! I just bought my car (a 2010 C300) and I'm wondering if there is a way to play music from my iphone through my bluetooth? I previously had a VW and was able to do so. Any help would be appreciated!

Get a Motorola roadster (on amazon for about $45)

it will clip to your visor and you can play both music and phone calls through your stereo

SL 500
Hello, I just purchased a 2005 SL 500 which says it is prewired for phone. It does not have the handset or handset plug in the center console. I would like to be able to use Bluetooth to use my phone. I don't need it to plug in, but would just like to be able to use it via the radio and mic, or command sys in the vehicle. Is there a simple way to do this, such as changing out the module,or do you have to have the handset plug and the puck to make it work?

You would need additional equipment; you can determine just what you'll need by referencing the thread at http://www.benzworld.org/forums/audi...ades-plug.html - your car has a MOST fiber optic bus, and will use an MHI controller and an MHI contact plate and puck. The phone bulletin for you car shows "kit" numbers for installation; the "kits" have been discontinued by MB, but the components of the kits are still available under their own part numbers. I suggest you talk to one of the parts suppliers listed in the first post of that thread to find out the exact part numbers.

The first post also has a "matrix" that will get you to the relevant posts for your car.

Regarding receiving text messages with an iPhone for Mercedes Benz it now works!!! A couple of things you need to know;
1. Need a 3GS or newer,
2. Need iOS 6,
3. Pair iPhone to car,
4. Go to settings on the phone, select Bluetooth, tap on the blue arrow beside the MB connection,
5. Ensure 'notification' is on!

Voila, it works instantly!!!

If your Benz can display text messages the TXT MSG on the telephone display will no longer be grayed out!

Instead of using the Motorola Roadster , which is universal for any car and plays music and phone calls through a FM channel on the car radio , I tried getting a Bluetooth puck to put in the armrest cradle . I can get the puck to light up and pair with my phone butbUnfortunately I can't seem to get it to recognize my phone on the command screen

Any help please post in my thread

2005 E320 Version Upgrade

I have been through the thread. I have installed the puck with a tail in my console, removing the phone cradle. Fits like a charm - but the puck does not work. Supposedly I am to push the blue button to begin paring. Nothing happens. So either a bad puck, bad wiring, or something else.
I see in the thread that I may need a version update to the Command system or Star system. I scheduled a service appointment for that. The service fellow called and tells me that there isn't any version update - that on a car of this age there can be no bluetooth - which I'm sure is not right.
Is there something specific I can tell them regarding the version update which might get them looking.

When you press the blue button, does it light up and flash?? What does your MFD say? "No Phone"?

Light flash and screen message

The light does not flash. Will have to check the screen when my wife gets the car back. I sort of recall that is what it said, but will make sure.

I would check fuses first, wiring second. If it doesn't light up, it isn't powered.

Very puzzled. What continent are you on, rsiferd? A North American model would not use the Puck With Tail at all; it would use an MHI contact plate and Bluetooth dongle that fits over it.

I cannot update this thread, unfortunately; but there is a newer version at http://www.benzworld.org/forums/audi...ades-plug.html - and there is discussion of the models that use the Puck with Tail.
