Do you guys think it would work? Is it possible to replace the caliper pins? The parts catalogue has something called a brake replair kit A1684210186. Any idea if this would work?

Many thanks!

If the pads are riding around in the caliper it could do the trick. There is a kit with pins & pad shims. You can also buy the pins individually in SA. Don't know the PNs

I put Akebono EURO front pads to my wife's W203 and they works great, low dust, no noise. Front wheels always stays clean while the rear wheels (w/OEM pads) are always dirty.

Just performed the service A and the mechanic told me the rear pads are low, so I will be ordering a pair from Akebono soon.

Assuming the wear on all pads are even, it should still have more than 10% life left if the sensor hasn't been tripped. No special tools are needed. Front OEM pads + rotors + sensor cost about $200. And it's a less than one hour DIY job.

Place to buy OEM parts? I normally buy from autopartsworld. No tax in CA + free shipping and I usually get the stuff in 3 days or so in the Bay Area -- sometimes I get it the next morning!

Do you know if they're the same as 2002-2004 W203 4Matic? I'm trying to get rid of some OEM brake rotors that don't fit my car..

just so you know $200 he posted is for non-sport models.

cross drilled rotors for your car cost around $85-120 each.

pads for your car ranges from $60-85 a set.

you can get them from rmeuropean.com

For sport package: rotors + pads + sensor cost about $260.

I had a similar conversation with my dealer a few months back. My 07 C280 had about 65k miles on it at the time (all easy highway miles) and I asked "why on God's green earth would I need to replace the rotors? Did they get scored or grooved somehow?"

The answer was "wellll... you might get a vibration..." which I chalked up to the dealer being used to dealing with people who have zero tolerance for imperfections and lots of extra spare change. Told them to just change the pads and don't worry about anything else. Lots less $$$ and with more than 90k on the odo I have had zero issues with vibrations, excessive pad wear etc.

Hi all,

I have C200K 2006 with sport package (2 pistons caliper & 330mm brake rotor). At the moment I need to change my Brake rotor.

I was just wondering if C32 Brake rotor (345mm) would fit into my car.

Please I need your help,, I believe all of you guys here got more experience than me

octadaud - the larger rotors will almost certainly bolt up just fine, but the pads won't be centered on the rotors. A member on this board (Coin) scammed me on a set of calipers that I later found out were mis-matched - one was for the 330mm rotor the other for the 345mm rotor. Look at the first pic in this thread to see what would be happenning:

https://mbworld.org/forums/c-class-w...t-coin-ed.html

The rotors are both 330mm, but the one on the left had the 345mm caliper bolted up and the one on the right had the correct 330mm caliper bolted up.

In your case, trying to bolt up a larger rotor, I'm not sure the caliper would clear the rotor (i.e. the rotor would stick out too far). I'd suggest getting the correct 330mm parts.

Hi mtnman82 - thank you for the advise... your suggestion is correct, better go with the standard size (330mm). Also 345mm rotor vissually doesn't look much different with 330mm rotor.

Anyone purchased brake stuff from placeforbrakes.com? Looks like pretty competitive prices, e.g. EBC rotors $20-30 cheaper than elsewhere... However, I couldn't find so much references about this page, so I would like to hear some opinions if someone has ordered parts from them

And any experience of EBC Ultimax BlackDash USR Slotted Rotors?

does anyone have an opinion on powerstop z1 ceramic pads? got my warning this morning and shopping for pads. with it being Xmas time I have to try and be thrifty and I found them for 53 dollars. sounds good, anyone used them? also, with changing to ceramic pads should I do rotors too? they don't look bad, no vibration, only slight signs of wear.

I will gladly pay you Tuesday for you to give up those rims today J/K!!

Autohausaz, rmeuropean, discountmbparts.com are my go to sites. I am sure there are tons of others.

Have not heard much on the zimmermans. I have ATE ceramics and Pagid pads on rears. No problems and great price. Akebonos seem to be the consensus on this forum. I might check those out on my fronts when the time comes up.
