That looks great. I've considered having mine painted body color too, but would hate to f*#% it up since I really enjoy the look as is.

If you do a repaint, I would leave the chrome. I like how its subtle but it really adds a touch of class to the car without over-doing it.

Also, I don't know if you can really see in the pics, but the first parktronic sensor is scuffed. Someone's shopping cart hit it. At least within the new month or so..Steve is supposed to be mailing me the custom parktronic strips with the US amber lens on the side.

so you got the parktronic from steve? the impact strip looks significantly darker than the rest of the bumper/body.

Aloha Eric! Looks good "as is".
One thing....I would either take out the front license plate or change the frame to a basic chome frame...IMO.
Love the paint too!

Frank W... yes Steve did the install for the full parktronic and the power folding mirrors. However, I only had the car for about 8 months when the parktronic was installed. I think it may just be the lighting in the pictures. I never really noticed a color difference. But none-the-less..I love the parktronic mod. It's unquie and a few C class owners ask me how I got that option.

I was debating about taking off the front license plate holder..but it's drilled into the bumper. Plus Hawaii requires a front license plate... however they seem to let bmw and mercedes owners get off the hook. You see so many Bmw's with the "BMW of honoulu" plate and a lot of Mercedes with the "emblem" plate I have now. None of us get stopped by the cops. However you will get stopped if you have nothing on at all. Weird.

Yeah I was at Kahala Mall. Stopped off at Starbucks with some friends to chill for a bit. Where were you parked? I'm usually around the Kaimuki area since I work around there. Good to see other guys on the boards from HI.

CL Front Grille - Before and After Pics

Before: Pics of the new CL Type front grille in gray in stock bumper.

After: Pics of the new CL Type front grille with new AMG bumper, clear AMG fogs, euro bumper impact strips, and 05' clear headlights.

What do you guys think???

Should I purchase a black front grille instead, or just stay with this one???
I'm planning to install 19 black wheels soon...

P.S. Already ordered the front BI-XENON headlights, sold the clear headlights already on eBay. Will post pics soon after install.

Better yet, paint the grille slats white to match your car! My only other recommendation is that you have each of the vertical slats painted black to give the illusion that only the horizontal slats exist.

Looks great as is! However, maybe some guys on here with photoshop skills can give you the black grille perspective. This will give you an idea how it would look on your car.

Thanks guys for the replies!

I've been working on this in the past months, and didn't posted any thing on it.
I used to read many posts but never really due posted...

Anyways, anybody here with great photoshop skills who can try and make the front grille BLACK?

I used door edge protectors in glossy black rubber to tap all the edges running vertical on the grille. I paste them and from far you might get the illusion the grille has only horizontal slats.

The xenon headlight projectors will arrive home in these upcoming days. I'll post some pics of the installed projectors with my aftermarket HID kit.

I just ordered the black CL grill from Jerry @ formymercedes.com yesterday and it should be at my door step by Friday. I'll post the pics as soon as I install it. It shouldn't be that hard to install the new grill should it? Even though I ordered the flat emblem I am still debating on whether to install it or not. I like the stock hood ordiment and I like looking down at it from inside the car. What do you guys think, should I replace the stock ordiment or leave it alone?

If you're going with CL grille, don't leave the hood ornament. Two stars on the front of your car will look terrible. Either leave stock grille with hood ornament or put the CL grille and flat emblem.

If Jerry has time, he will put the star on the grille. He uses a small amount epoxy to hold it in place along with the 3 snap on tabs. Yes, it's very easy to install. You should get some clips in a small plastic bag to put it on your new grille. There will be about 6 screw to remove and then replace.

As for the latch specifically for this grille, read this thread. Carlos (Saprissa) gave great step by step instructions. Be sure not to let that clip fly into your engine!
