yea i must admit dat my 05 ss needs better suspension even with the sports springs...i cant imagine how those who have the <05 models feel wid theirs

i think its customary to get a drop first then slap on wheels...also imo

well not much in handling for the every day driver...i dont drive my 4 cyl on a track or at crazy speeds (as long as it takes to reach them) around corners...

what do you guys think about 850$ for a set of 18'' brabus reps with tires already on them (non stag)? with minor curb rash on one wheel and that the tires have about 8-9k miles on them??

hey would merecedes alphard wheels fit on my c230 with the larger brakes in front? 18x8.5 et 35 and 18x9.5 et 40

Agreed weight on wheels is important but still I can see your rear gap wheel/fender is more even with 19 no matter how low you drop it. It is such a tiny detail for people to notice it but it bothers me lol

Yes- those will fit. Several members have those wheels with no issues. You could go up to a 235 tire in the front. Rears should clear just fine with a little fender rolling.

Just got my 06 C230 in White. just wondering what kinda wheels would look good on a white C230 sedan???

Hey, Sorry im new to this, so my mistake if i post this in the wrong section.

I currently drive a 2006 C230 Stock Wheel and Suspension. I want to get some new rims, and looking into some 19x8.5 SSR GT3 5x112 et.38, My question was.

Will i need to get a new suspension in order for these rims to fit? Or can i just put them on with my stock suspension. I'm plannning to put some coilovers or HR springs but not anytime soon (gotta save up $$).

And also, What kind of tires do i need for these rims to fit?

Anyone know of any installers in the BayArea, SF?

You'll probably be told to STFF, but honestly you'll be reading for awhile in the 20+ page thread about wheels here.

I've read through it and from what i can tell from your specs, it should fit fine on your car. However, i'm not pro when it comes to wheels like some are around here.

What does the "et.38" mean? I'm assuming the mm displacement (or something like that)? from what i read it should basically be between 32 and 35??

et. is the offset I believe, and it is in mm

and I think the ideal offset for our cars is around 35

I don't think you'll be happy with the drop that H&R's will give you. I'd highly suggest going with, at minimum, TEIN Basic's to get your ride height exactly where you want it.

If the pic of your car is accurate - no load in the tail - then from a handling & aerodynamic perspective your car is too high in the nose allowing too much air under the car & effecting high speed stability. I notice this on a lot of American cars including standard, sport & modified. The .27 CD on these cars is achieved with the nose down & tail up. The standard set up on South African cars ex factory - both standard & sport package is nose down which is correct. While I can understand people with modded suspension fouling this up I don't understand why so many standard cars are so high in the nose. My car is a standard Elegance with 45,000 Kms on it so there is no suspension sag with age & it runs lower in the nose than yours with sport suspension.

I'm not considering "looks" in my comments above - only handling with the correct attitude.

Drex, FrankW & Splinter are all people that, from photos I've seen, have their cars set in the close to correct nose down attitude - but they are all modified & were set up by people that know what they are doing. There are a lot of modded cars that are too far down in the tail. Might look good - but no good for handling

thanks for the clearification....so sounds like its best to actually get coilovers so you could achieve the height that you want. No wonder its recommended to get a drop first before even considering a set of wheels for that reason...

now once the 19"s are slapped on with stock suspension, the back wouldn't have any gap, but with the coilovers, it would lower it even more? wouldnt there be a chance of rubbing? and the front as well?

BlkBenz8 is going to have to be carefull with his car. On 19" you have so little space to play with but at least he will be able to adjust properly with CO's. I would always do brakes & suspension first & then get wheels that work.

I think he can come down in the front but hope it doesn't rub over a bump with the wheels turned. He might end up having to raise the tail slighly to get the attitude of the car aerodynamically correct. I don't know what his wheel offsets are but he can always roll the wheel arches. It's rubbing on the inside that gives you little place to go & I hate spacers.

Yes 17" or 18" + 19" is bloody uncomfortable on very low profile tyres & I'm not sure that 19" look that good - the car's track is not wide enough IMHO for these huge dinner plates
