W203/CL203/S203 TIRE Discussion Thread - Every question on TIRES
Pirelli
PZero Nero M&S 400 AA A
(Ultra High Performance All-Season)
Front $137.00 23 lbs
Rear $170.00 24 lbs
BFGoodrich
g-Force T/A KDW 2 300 AA A
(Ultra High Performance Summer)
Front $141.00 28 lbs
Rear $182.00 26 lbs
Both of these have a rating of 8.3 for the "would you buy again" question... - The previous tires posted are all in the 7.0 - 7.6 range...so I will probably just pick between these 2
But aren't those max performance summer tires contrary to your other post?
)They get very good reviews on TireRack. According to the user ratings, they are, as expected, very slightly worse with cornering and dry traction, but better with all the other aspects, including a tire wear rating of almost twice the Pilot Sport summer tires.
BTW, Costco has a $60 coupon on a set of four Michelins for about two weeks, ending early in November. With that and TireRack's shipping charge, Costco works out around $80 cheaper on a set of four of these tires.

Thanks a lot for the info - your post reminded me that I had read something about that. I noticed the TSP title in the list on this forum.
Does anyone have more details on this? Like the actual TSB?
Thanks again!

MBUSA will not perform warranty wheel alignments on any subject vehicle which has any non-approved wheel/tire package installed. For any question as to approved wheel/tire packages, please refer to WIS and EPC
However, as these tires are not officially supported by MB, they won't do warranty alignments if you have them fitted. Since we've only got 8 months of warranty left, I'm not going to worry about that for now.
This is about the same price as the OEM Michelin Pilot Sports.
I'll post impressions after I've taken them for a spin. I don't have any intention to go driving in the snow, but sometimes (once or twice a year) we get some snow/sleet/freezing rain and I don't get out of the office before some of it sticks. I'm sure these tyres will be much better than the summer tyres.
My rear stock rim on the passenger side got attacked by SOMETHING and now I'm needing to either replace that individual rim or buy 4 different ones...
I'm currently looking at purchasing a different style of MB wheels from an 03 C230 (stock and also 16") but I;'m wondering if I'd just be able to swap the tires from my old stock rims and put it on these new ones...
The tires which were on the new rims are 225/60 R16 and the tires I currently have are 205/55 R16... Would this work?
Thanks in advance.
Or you could go to a site like Tirerack and read on the subject there.
Or someone will pop-in here and attempt to explain it to you....
I always found this site to be helpful to see if tires can be swapped:
LINK: Tire size calculator
Now, for a brief explanation of how tire sizes work, if we take your example:
225/60R16
1st number (225) = width of the tire
2nd number (60) = height of tire from wheel (also referenced as "series" - i.e. 30/35/40/45/50/55 etc...)
3rd number = size of rim height
Using the tire size calculator, the tire swap would throw off your speedometer. What's strange to me is that the tires on the '06 230 SS are wider, but higher profile than your current tires. Typically, when you have a sport tire, the profile of the tire would be smaller. In the example you gave, the sport rims carry a higher profile tire than your stocks.
What brand and model do you suggest?
Tks to all...
i have 225 in front and 255 in the rear
Your ride looks fabulous! Cheers!
Thanx
sorry this is so long
