Bi-X: W203/CL203 OEM Bi-XENON Upgrade, Auto-Levelling & Programming thread
Any responses would make me very happy.

STEVE IS THE MAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Here is a pic of my Bi-Xenon at night. I feel the light doesn't project far enough.
My other car is a MDX with after market HID. I can see real far at night. I understadn MDX is a higher vehical so the light will project further.
I just feel I can't see far enough while driving at 70mph in my W203 at night.
By the way, the light pattern has a cut out on the driver side.
From the bumper to the valley of the cut out is about 33 feet.
All you W203 owners with OEM bi-Xenons. Do you have the same problem?

Maybe yours are adjusted down a hair, I will have to look later and see if there are any adjustments on my coupe lights to raise them mechanically. They also auto adjust on startup, so check at night and make sure they are auto leveling when the vehicle is started. You will notice the ligths lower and then raise back up.
It's fine for city (low speed) driving. I just don't feel safe when driving on freeway because I can see far enough to avoid stuff on the road or sharp turns.
If we turn the lights angle up - thereby increasing distance, will the autoleveler bring the angle inside the housing (the reflector and lense assembly) down without bringing down the housing itself to compensate?
Or is it's job to simply figure out - ok, car is started, lights on - they are in position X and keep them there?
This has been bugging me a while now.
Thanks
second, when you have to see far, use the high beam when there's no car in front of you. When you can't use the high beam, it means there's car in front of you, you don't need to see that far.
third, you feel that way probably because you are still used to have street lamps everywhere on the highway like they do in Taiwan, which could cause glare when you are driving at night.
lastly, I don't think you'll be able to adjust the beam height when there's the autoleveling system.

Search the internet. There are a number of websites which will show you how to aim the headlights. This initial aiming will provide the baseline to which the auto-leveling system will adjust the aim as the load in the car changes. It seems that the factory aim is often lower than the specs allow.
I am thinking it's the design of the headlights. I thought it was the bulb, but my car has around 12k on it and it's still project somewhat yellowish on the road.
If you really want the bluer light, you can change to the 6000 degree or even higher bulbs. You will pay around $150 per bulb.
The bulbs used by Mercedes have a color temperature of 4300 degrees Kelvin, while the others are 6000 degrees Kelvin. So, the BMW's and Audi's will have bluer lights. The 4300 degree bulbs are closer to sunlight and are close to optimal for human vision.

Okay, I will concede that some or even most BMW's and Audi's come with 4300 degree bulbs. But I still believe that some models, especially Audi's have higher temperature bulbs.
