Brake pad - rotor change
Hi, great list of links thanks, does anyone have a link for changing all pads & rotors on a C220 W204? Are there any difficulties involved in the process? Any help is appreciated, as my first time doing this diy on this car.

Okay, so I feel like I should use tampons to ask how to change the sparkplugs on a w204 c300. I've changed dozens in my life. But, in bringing my ride in for its A service at 100K mile tuneup, they quoted me $352 to change sparkplugs. Yes, friggin plugs, 6 of them, for $350. So, unless the dealer is beyond a complete racket, and into criminally insane territory, there has to be something more to changing these out, right? Or is this the price of a 3 pointed star on your hood? I'd guess pop the plastic tupperware engine topper, disconnect the battery, unplug the plug wires and have a go at the plugs, 3 per bank. Dunno the torque to use, maybe the parts guy at the counter would offer?
Also, dealer gave $149 for the engine intake filters. WTF?
Anyway, next up is a check engine light the ***** threw about a month or month and a half ago. I figured it was a thermostat by the way the temp gauge got nervous in the days afterwards. Luckily, it was February in Jersey so little chance of any damage. But now with the weather increasing...... Dealer confirmed it was a thermostat when I brought it in but won't tell me the OBD code. Not sure if Mercedes parses out their codes well enough to tell the location if I could get the code? Anyway, does anyone know where the thermostats are on these things. I reckon like most others there'd be one at the radiator and one at the engine block? But, I've never wrenched on German cars before. Only Swedish, Jap and Amerikan cars. Any tricks to a mercedes thermostat?
much thanks for any help

No-brainer DIY projects. There are videos for both spark plugs and cabin filter on YouTube. The video for the spark plugs is by a channel called BenzWerks (I believe) and he does two different engines in one video - one being the m272. Very easy. Torque should be 17-18nm. I have the exact measurement in my computer and will post when I get home later.
If you can change spark plugs, the engine air filter doesn't need much explanation. Pull the engine cover off. Wiggle the two big air hoses free, wiggle a small rubber hose free near the center of the air box. Flip over and remove 6 torx screws in each side to access the filter housing.
Good luck

Can somebody post a guide and pics on how to remove the side mirror covers on a W204?
I found a guide in this DYI on how to remove the side mirrors (thanks!) but now I need to know how to remove the side mirror covers. I am replacing the covers with the 2010+ models (only the outer plastic part)
as shown here

Any luck on this topic? I also saw someone asking about replacing the down facing courtesy lights on the side mirrors. Ultimately this is my goal.
Thank you in advance!

im looking into buying an X-pipe from Mandrel Bending Solutions and since its a custom order part they require me to provide them with all the dimensions. I've seen others members who have gotten their X-pipes from MBS but no one has posted dimensions. can anyone help me out?

This is somewhat inaccurate, you do not need to loosen the nuts under the rear lights, just snap out the bumper from the brackets below the lights.
And to remove the two center nuts just use this tool:

Pop off the tweeter and remove the sound insulation to reveal three star bolts. Unscrew these bolts and pull the door cover for the side-view mirror off, revealing the wire channel.
From the inside to outside, run a cable tie into the channel. Tape wire to the cable tie, and pull it back through. Replace the side-view mirror cover.
Unplug the (6) connector and lift the clip to slide off the connector lock.
Use a small flathead to push these pins in and back, so you can solder into the wire connector.
Tin the ends of the connector wires and the connectors using a very small amount of solder.
Hold the ends together and apply heat from the soldering iron to solder wire onto connector.
Push the pins forward again, and slide the connector lock back on.
Run it in reverse to reassemble.
I fail, someone tell me how to resize images in the post.

Here is a list of all the DIYs I could find in the w204 section of the site. Sometimes the search is tricky and does not return the results one might be looking for. Many of these have been helpful in my experience. I did not make any of these, just put them together so they are easy to find on the forum. Thanks to those who took the time to make them.
