Yes, using this philosophy, he can wait for the C43. But then the C45 will be just another year after the C43, right? So maybe he should wait for that too. There's always the next model.

Agreed, and while he is waiting, he might as well just wait for the LCI coming in 2018 with the rumoured straight 6 and 9 speed transmission. There is always improvements each year, so might as well just get the damn car as it is, if you like it.

Yep......imagine how much money can be saved by always waiting for the next model.

First of all, moniker changes doesn't happen every production year especially going from C450 to AMG C43. Pretty sure everyone here will understand the significance. Also, on the topic of waiting for MY17, it is already Mid-Jan 2016. If he orders one today, he will get it in March/April (Unless he buys off-lot). By then, it will only be 2-3 months out before production ends. And if hes not in a rush, he will benefit from what I said above:

1) Gets to know the difference in the new production year and determine if its important to him (Price factor as well)
2) If he doesn't deem the differences to be important, he will then get a extremely good deal on a 450.

It definitely will not. With the increased numbers that AMG is pursuing, I would not be surprised if they soon abandon the one man, one engine philosophy, and the SLC AMG have the identical, mass produced V6 that is in the C450

tivoboy - I don't believe I did, honestly though I stuffed most of my paper work into my glove box and have used the digital manual built into the car's Infotainment system instead.

I got the C Class Manual, the Voice Command book, but no separate Comand Book. I was told they no longer give it out and if you want it, it's online at MBUSA.com, which of course it is.

Since I started using my C450 for my daily travel between home and work the fuel consumption display is very strange.
The itinerary is short (4km) with many stops. Even if I drive in comfort or Eco the display doesn't move from 20l which is a lot. Fyi 20liters is the maximum that can be displayed.
The car is new and did only do 100km so far...
Do you think it is normal?
Should I break it in some highways during week end and give it more air ?

if next year c450 will be called C43,
and if the current c450 rear looks the same as C43,
is it ok to stick the C43 badge on my c450?

wait, i like it better with c450. when people see C450, they know it' the higher end model of c300
when people see C43, they know it the cheaper model of C63.

Amazingly enough, this is normal if you are talking about the "from start" menu. When cold starting, the computer sets the consumption at 20l/100km and does not properly start measuring for a little while (usually a km or so). When it does start measuring, it does not discard the initial data, so you will slowly see the average consumption improve. You should try a longer route to see if the consumption measured in the from start menu improves.

It won't. The notes on the SLC43 already show that the SLC43 doesn't have a handbuilt motor. Since the C43 will have the same engine, the same will apply.

From what I have been able to gather this is purely a name change. The C450 will become the C43 with no mechanical changes. There will likely only be some across the board C-class updates like perhaps Apple Carplay.

I'm more interested to know if the C43 (and possibly this model) would get one into the AMG owners club, and access to the track days, AMG driving events and other AMG owner specific opportunities. I've been to many of them and they are a lot of fun.

Talk about a brutal experience...being the guy in the "Owners Club" who owns the "fake AMG" around all of the pretentious "real AMG" owners.

Christ, I'd rather hang myself with dental floss than deal with that.

Opinions wanted: so, assuming the 2017 M-AMG C43 has no mechanical difference to the 2016 MB C450 AMG, is it wrong to have the car re-badged to AMG C43? This is ONLY in the case that the cars are mechanically identical. If the C43 is actually a different chassis setup, or brakes, or transmission, or whatever, I would NOT consider a rebadge. I was always a TINY bit upset that the C450 didnt include a rear AMG badge, and I see this as a potential opportunity

Yeah, I don't think that will go well even if you are allowed in.

But with Germans, all 3 are doing pretty much the same thing. M/AMG/S are not what they used to be.

Is it wrong? It's your car, do whatever the heck you want with it. I personally wouldn't think of it, but I'm not a badge guy. All this talk of depreciation on the C450, badge changes, etc seem silly to me for the what I suspect will be the same exact car. Will pick up my C450 in a few weeks proudly and enjoy the car no matter what they call it now or next year.

Your car already has AMG badges. Want another one? Why not?

That said, I remember (maybe showing my age here) when we used to de-badge our cars for the stealth effect. Seems like those days are long gone.

I love the look of debadged cars, whether I jump early for the C450 or wait a few extra months for the C43, I plan to have it debadged from the factory. I want the star on the front end and nothing else.
