C450 AMG Sport discussion only.
Recently I was on the hunt for a C300 with driver assistance package and airmatic suspension, but with all the options, the price was reaching into C450 territory and there were none on any lots anyway. Figured the C450 was a much better buy for only a few thousand more and it has more standard options, a nicer interior, and of course more power and style plus IMO it had just the right mix of comfort and performance for a family sedan.
SO, the day before I go into the local dealership after shopping around all over for a C300 with driver assistance package (only 2 in the country found so I had decided to order one), I spec out a Polar White C450 for close to $60k with the dealer agreeing to ~10% off. I thought I had done a pretty good job negotiating the deal, as I spoke to 4 other dealers who let me walk because they said they weren't interested! I did all this knowing the C43 was on the horizon for 2017, but that car was getting a little too far on the AMG side of things for a family compromise and I don't mind the one year only C450 designation at all since it will be rare. Maybe insurance will even be lower even though it's the same car. I'm a little let down I didn't do more research as I could have probably reached the $10k off mark like some people have done here, but I guess I did ok and was able to deal locally so I don't have to go far to pick up the car.
I actually lost any further leverage when I went to go order the car because I had been discussing the C300 and there were plenty of build slots for those, but I flipped the script on order day and when my dealership tried to order the C450 slot, production was already shut down and it could not be ordered through their system! I saw him try it, and he had told me that this was the last week to get in a 2016 order too. I knew my options were limited because nobody orders the driver assist package and I knew I wouldn't find a car to my spec on any lot. Also, I knew MB was going to restructure their option packages in 2017 for the C43 which means I would have to get the $9k P4 package to get driver assistance aids (and I didn't want to order the Multimedia/Nav option since it's a waste of $2k IMO). I had to get the dealership to get in touch with the factory and pull some strings to make the car, so I was told I have the final C450 that is being produced. I hope it's not made on a Friday given some of the comments here about US production! Hopefully being late production means it will have some of the previous issues resolved upon delivery in July. I haven't liked any of Mercedes' designs since the 2000s so I was excited about this car, I think it's gorgeous and the interior is waaaaay ahead of it's class.

It sounds incredible and I am going to pick it up Thursday and will have a full review up then. On a side note we are also getting the two AWE exhausts in early next month and will have reviews of them as well.
AMR is next on the list
The Best of Mercedes & AMG
The speedo shots of the c63 vs the c450 really diverge around 200 km/h...a good flash and it would be closer than many would expect.
It's sad, with a proper launch control on this car plus a flashed ECU, it would surprise the hell out of a lot of cars from a stop! Sub 4 to 60, I'd have no doubt with a good tire.
Imagine that performance in a car you can take to the snow, sleet, or rain....FUN.
