If I recall correctly 75W140 is for LSD ( Mercedes use Castro). The non LSD use MB specification 235.7 which is 75W85. I used Fuchs Titan Sintopoid FE 75W85 for mine. Liqui Molly is just an Oil reseller. They buy left over stock from other manufacturers and relabel it.

I did a little research and also checked WIS based on my VIN. I end up on 75W-140 for CLS55. I also found this thread which shows some difference between E55 W211 and CLS55 W219

Performed a preventative maintenance scan using the iCarsoft and found out the cabin temperature sensor was broken. It showed the maximum value of 68 degrees celsius, which isnt right off course. The sensor sits behind the small vent on the bottom right of the steering wheel and needs to be twisted to be removed (about a quarter turn)
The sensor wire is very thin and brittle and after 18 years a common item to be replaced.

Papst fan, I know that brand from my PC building days
Brand new one was about 42 euros at the dealer, not bad at all

I replaced the ambient temperature sensor recently with an aftermarket one, but I noticed that it measured way too high (!). I decided to buy OE sensor and get it over with, problem solved

This weekend I was planning to swap out the inner tie rods, and I was greeted with a rather unwelcome surprise...
View before I started
But upon closer inspection of the outer tie rods, the boots of the ball joints were already shot I replaced these in August 2022....I looked at the packaging of the outer tie rods and noticed something strange. I bought the suspension parts as part of a package from the brand "Atec Germany". But the packaging states: Manufactured in PRC aka Peoples Republic of China aka Made in China
As they say: buy cheap buy twice...

Thats not ideal. I have some lemforder ones in the mail. Haven't looked much into the inner tie rods, hopefully they don't require special tools like some cars do.

+1 on the made in China crap. I have received new suspension parts that I immediately returned. One ball joint was loose and sloppy and the other so tight it could not be moved. I now read the packaging closely as well as the parts description. Prices are bad enough but it is the loss of my time from having to repeat a job that pisses me off.

@tw2 I bought a 41mm wrench and that got those suckers loose I made a video for the loose inner tie rods, those have way too much play. I picked up new Febi Bilstein parts earlier today and will be fitting them in the next hours. Alignment is planned for upcoming friday
@bbirdwell Exactly! I will also keep buying from known reputable brands from now on

Car is looking good, Andy! Inner and outer tie rods replacement is a good call. Removes all doubt and tightens up the front end. Always makes me smile to see another owner who cares about these beautiful machines.

Alignment was done yesterday at a local mechanic. A CLS55 buddy of mine recommended him and I was glad he did. My other alignment shop cancelled my appointment due to a funeral so I had to find someone else on short notice. Called him on friday, was helped on saturday!

We had a small meeting yesterday at another forum (mainly Seat cars) which I have been a member of for +10 years.
For the interested, album here: http://bitly.ws/JDwN
Also something I never knew existed, a 1999 Nissan Stagea wagon

And took the time to treat myself to some proper shots of my silver beauty
Quite a long car
Had some ragrets not putting some effort in cleaning the exhaust tips...
I love this upper line on the CLS
