This thread is awesome, definitely bookmarking it... not a fan of the big screens, but I really want to upgrade my '15 E250 Turbodiesel to NTG51.
I saw a reference to a shop in NL that can do it, but is there any place to have this done by a pro in the USA? Or would it have to be a DIwhy here?

Hi Chris, I have a 2013 GL350 X166, which has the Comand NTG 4.7 with navigation in it. I am assuming that this can also be upgraded to the 5S1. What parts would I need and where is the best place to get them?

Thank you a lot. How can i enter the code on my head unit ? Is there only one way or more to do that ? Currently is showing this screen, I noticed that if i pull out the (pink) wire from the small black connector, the unit won’t go into anti theft mode, but it wouldn’t let me change the vehicle settings as the unit thinks the key is no on.....

Ntg5s1 retrofit from ntg4.5

I read your thread and decided to do the conversion to a friend's car w212 model 2014
The car has ntg4.5 audio 20 and want to retrofit the ntg5s1 audio 20.
I read and print the wiring diagrams for both ntg4.5 and ntg5s1 and made all the necessary modifications.
Managed to unlock the ntg5s1 and the screen powered on but now I have problem with the can bus body and also the rotary controller doesn't work.
I get a message that after 3 minutes the the radio will switch off.
I reppined the cables for the can body from the original quadlock pin 11 to new block c pin 9 for cab high and from pin 9 to block pin 3 can low.
What I am doing wrong?
Also the original rotary controller which was installed to the car was the one with four buttons but I don't get any power to that
Any help would be appreciated

The car had already the rotary with the four buttons exactly like the one from that of ntg5s1 despite it has ntg4.5.

I noticed the most had also dab which the car doesn't have but I didn't touch it because I wanted to find the can bus problem.
About the wake up do you mean most wake up pin 16?
Is there any case the issue with can bus to be from most components?
For can bus I used the cables which came to the ntg4.5 is that correct or I have to pull cables from the can bus central connectors.

Do you have access to the wis? You can print the wiring diagrams for both systems and see the differences there.
You have to change the can bus, telematics bus, the microphone cables and to wire new cables 4 to obd and 3 cables for usb.

i have mercedes benz w212 E class 350 214 include the traffic sign recognition, the car is shipped from Germany to Lebanon , that system is working for one day only the first day the car arrived, and after that day the traffic recognition sign system is not operational, can anybody help me
