Last chance to stop me before I buy GTR

Is there anything you guys can say to me to turn me off from the GTR or perhaps suggest another equal car for <$80K?

You will miss the MB. Have you looked into the GTR maintenance, it is horrible to deal with? Finally, you will have to do the same mods as Vic and then you will be into ZR1 territory.

Good luck with the GTR, great color choice.

yeah, let me email you a 10 page PDF that they make you sign saying that you can't mod the car or your warranty is shot although I have been debating getting a silver one in the next 3 months.

fricken price keeps going up. $87K for a 2010 silver premium vs. used '09 for about $71K w/less than 1K miles.

i read that the transmission (transfer case?) requires a 10 or so quart flush every 15K miles, unless you drive it hard (i.e. track days), then it's every 1,500 miles, and the fluid is $80/quart
(edit: transaxle. dammit, I was close!)

enjoy... and be very wary buying used...

for me, I'll just drive the in one Gran Turismo
I park it next to my F2004

edit:
here's a short Edmunds article showing the cost of the *routine* change of the differential and transaxle fluids

if I find the interval explanation I'll add that as well

Funny post (I think it was more sarcastic as I have some inside info) and of course, obvious answers.

I havent talked anyone into this car but have given my honest feedback in several threads. Its an amazing car for the money, bang for the buck is incredible but Fantasm ... dont do it!!!! J/K... You can go with IMAN's or Alias's but the lower the miles the better.

Rock took my advice and ran with it; a $995 tune and a midpipe later he runs an 11.3 at 127.50 with stock wheels and tires on a mash and go in Auto Mode. The car sucks.

Drives Slowly
If the car is going to be your daily driver, then I say look elsewhere. It offers none of the relaxed driving qualities of a Mercedes. It's not quiet, the brakes squeak, the tranny can be abrupt, and if you like your anonymity and try to fly under the radar, then this car is a ZERO.

On the other hand, if you're looking for a car that offers near super-car acceleration, a suspension that enables you to defy the laws of physics, 15" Brembo brakes that will detach your retinas, a transmission that shifts so fast and seamlessly that it makes even Ferrari engineers envious, a machine that can run with and surpass many exotics on tracks all over world, a cult car that makes one out of three people stop, stare, and take a picture. If that is what you are looking for............ then this car may be for you.

Vic can tell you better than anyone else. He's had many premium automobiles over the years and the GTR is near the top of his "Most Loved" list for good reason.

Good luck with you decision.

No brainer- do it. I would only consider the cts-v or z06 as competition. CTS-V because it's a little luxury (like the merc) and z06 because of the aftermarket support.

That's a totally different price range, and I have NEVER UNDERSTOOD the whole Porsche thing. I've gone there 4 times and have never ever been impressed. Yes- I did take them to driving events and tracks. I just don't get the price/performance enthusiasm with the Porsche's. Laugh at me all you want but I preferred my s2k, e36 m3, and c5 z06 over the turbo 996's and 993.

I wont laugh ... different strokes ... many people don't like Porsche's. My problem was I grew up loving it ... can't help myself now.

I know therapy is cheaper.
