easy way to keep an eye on chassis 12V-DC
This does USB Charger plus monitor

Very useful to monitor voltage without BATT-LIN disconnected.

Voltages witnessed at different branches of prefuse box are slightly lower due to drop-voltage.
My dashcam also shows voltage live : )

Thanks again, I will need to try to get it done from the top if it is ever possible otherwise I might need to postpone it till later, my back has been hurting lately. Thankfully many others that come across your thread can enjoy the mod in the meantime, thanks again : )

I had a bad back. The orthopedic surgeon wanted to operate, showed me my MRI and said I'd been in a wheelchair soon. That was over three years ago. (If you're a hammer, everything looks like a nail. If you're a surgeon, you cut.)

A veterinary pharmacist I was doing some work for said to start taking Turmeric, NAC, and Quercetin. Turmeric is an anti-inflammatory. Quercetin and N-Acetyl Cysteine (NAC) are immune system and antioxidant support. It's all OTC stuff. Within two weeks, the pain was gone and has stayed gone.

That's great advice, thank you JR.
In your list of special pills you can add Bromelain: a powerful anti-inflammatory compound extracted from pineapples.

> TWO HOURS HIGHWAY ROUND TRIP:
Surprise the mpg just climbed to efficiency unseen in over 10Yrs.

32.7mpg on flat highway (no hills) !!!
32.7mpg driven on flat highway (no hill or grades) !!!

Here's what I got just now: 32.7mpg driving highway speed. This is better than before ALT-LIN

I am going to conclude :
-- Regenerative deceleration burst is a waste mpg.
-- Stable voltage is significantly more efficient

> GREAT DRIVEABILITY :
-- I enjoy my ponny efficiency with more power and less heat.
-- It's a different driving experience with the seemless gearbox.
-- The electric steering bias is noticeably stable and the California hills are flat!

-- There's no need to muscle heavy chassis into higher rpm then squash the brakes to slow down.

-- It's a more nimble Mercedes with less overall wear and tear.

-- This is a matching extension of MOD-4 with further throttle granularity.

-- Even the tranny needs to adapt a bit to the engine voltage upgrade (tinny bit of weirdnesses at first replaced by great behaviors to match engine)

Forum member, CaliBenzDriver, in regards to the connector, do you have an image of the connector or the name/style of connector on both front and back side that can be found online, that will hopefully help too : ) For example is it a Hirschmann or Sealstar, if so which one? Key A or Key B? Thank you : )

EASY DOES IT.... BLINDLY

This is way more simple than researching connector type. The hard part is releasing the tinny lock in one piece

-- You need to work by feel blindly sight unseen

-- ALT only has one single connector (besides the heavy gauge 12V out)

-- It uses a dual-lock like CPS connectors

-- Pull back the fragile lock from the top edge by hand

-- Gently rock the lock to release connector while you pull out tocking side to side.

There you have the blind extraction of ALT-LIN.

BLINDLY PULLING BY FEEL

yes you got it, I think this is your ALT-LIN connection

Some alternators models have it Located Near The Edge at the rear like yours.

Feel your way around that skinny wire...
Feel the lock lever
Pull it out
.... procedure above

>> Not to be confused with the tall plastic cap over the ALT/BATT output: ALWAYS 12VDC LIVE POWER (Dont short this! - Don't mess with it - That part is built to be reliable)

You will need to confirm the alternator output voltage is self regulated as ecpected and EVU is flagging the disconnect as well.

I thought that was my ALT-LIN too as that is the only wire coming off from the alternator other than the round 12v one but the wire is not blue and it is nothing like the connectors ever shown in the thread, I wonder if MB changed it to a permanent connector since the W205 C-Class, if so that will be unfortunate.

For my car the alternator used seems to be 0009068706, the connector looks right like yours and forum member JettaRed except when I look at my car, and felt around that wire and connector there is no clip at all

it maybe exact same connector but located on the edge like yours or in the middle like ours.

perfect match ... on the rear edge
perfect match ... on the rear edge

meaning same connector has the same latch to pull up

Mhmm from the part number and the way it is on the side facing passenger wheel well away from engine is the exact same as forum member JettaRed except the actual connector feels nothing like it which is why I was confused.

same
similar
Now you can see where the latch is facing

I don't think it is different... the connector you pull out covers the whole alternator male/female piece

my connector would fit your alternator!!
  • Now that you know where latch is facing
  • reach in and feel your way to identify latch
  • pull it
  • then off it goes

done! big hand

Mhmm, the latch would be further to the back of the alternator so in the image shown I uploaded it will be further back towards the bottom, except there is no latch, unless someone broke it before but doesn't make sense, I bought this 2017 since new. I will try again, appreciate the pointers, thank you again

if you need more confidence look at pics of the connector you're trying to remove.

In particular the tinny plastic lock at the top... be gentle it's undersized German plastics

if you want to save time, just look at CPS connectors: same tiny lock style.

-- It uses a "dual-latch" just like CPS connectors

-- Pull back the fragile lock from the top edge by hand

-- Gently rock the lock to release connector while you pull out tocking side to side.
