I know this is alll..."straight backwards"
you'll feel better this evening once it's all said and done.
The more factory CONTROLS WE DISCONNECT... the better these cars run!
Third installment may be Advanced F-SAM Bypass to right CAN Levels... start practicing around F-SAM tub.
++++ ENG HEAT CTL ...
I think there may be a way that high engine heat is related to the LAGGY fuel map/ throttle adaptations: when engine runs better heat goes down.
As in...: better engine timings seems to correlate to less heat and overall engine efficiency.
Meaning ECU control of fan/tstat is innefective but not guilty.
Poor timings likely is root cause... let's see how "fan in 50°F weather" plays off.

Bad news : ( still unsuccessful, I used a flashlight to beam up while a phone taking a picture straight down from the engine bay, as you can see, it looks nothing like the connectors in this thread, there is weirdly also a zip tie, the wire is also not blue, it looks integrated to the alternator permanently.
imagine you're in a submarine that's taking on water... now is your turn to dive down.
the team is waiting for your success!
Prepare and do it.
+++ ZIP TIED ... WAIT... don't cut it!
Factory expected you would have to replace ALT and failed batteries. ZIP TIE ONLY HOLD HARNESS
DON'T CUT IT!!!
Its here to keep the harness from vibrating the single tinny wire.
So how should I approach this? Forum member JettaRed's wire doesn't have a ziptie for example and this wire doesn't move at all, no familiar connector, looks nothing like the pictures, no latch, nothing: (
Will try to check this evening on how it looks. Standby.
Thank you, hopefully we can figure this out together with forum member CaliBenzDriver and JettaRed. Much appreciate both of your help and I need to order those inflammatory supplements recommended.

If we are looking at the same thing, you will see it by shining a light from the bottom with one hand and peak through the left side close to the battery compartment after removing the passenger side intake. Look for the 12V live wire cylinder protection cap with the MB logo and you will see a harness shown right beneath it lower left side. My connector is very strange for some reason and cone shaped with a ziptie.
2015 SL400 (M276 Turbo), 2014 C350 Sport (M276 NA), 2004 SL500 (M113), 2004 Audi TT225 (BEA)
So, the SL400 seems to keep improving. Super cold today with all fluids below freezing at startup (shoulda taken a picture), but shifts were smooth and quick. I was expecting some thumping shifts while the engine and tranny were still cold, but no. As a matter of fact (perception), the car seems to operate better overall.
By the way, I have asked @crconsulting to take a look at this thread and provide any comments since he seems familiar with battery charge balancing and I was wondering if disconnecting the alternator LIN line would screw anything up. But didn't @S-Prihadi post elsewhere that his alternator line has been disconnected for quite some time now?
