Did you have to cut the ziptie and the cone shaped thing? What did it look like from the bottom?

you can see the alt in connector from the bottom using a flashlight.. I was unable to get a clear pic due to my camera not focusing. There is a tab and it is black so I took a long flat screwdriver and put it on the tab and sort of tried yanking it, the connector actually just slid out easily after a few tries with the driver LOL. Then I buttoned it all back up.

-This is definitely not placebo.. The car just feels so free less drag and revs so much easier. Upshifts were super smooth as well as downshifts.. I have a C63S exhaust retrofitted on my C450 and it sounded very nice. Just a smoother drive and especially in Sport PLUS. Delivery and torque felt very different compared to stock. I hope it stays this way.
I also have recently changed my 722.9 fluid with AMSOIL signature ATF (Less than 2000 KM ago). I want to drive the car some more so hopefully tomorrow. Engine temps were 94C and trans temp was about 40c. Wonder how it will feel when everything is fully warmed up. Overall extremely happy with this setup.(Oil pump solenoid and ALT in removed)

just a black tab very visible pointing towards firewall(rear of engine). It took longer to button the covers on than the actual disconnect. Also I forgot one stupid bolt for the bottom cover so I will install it tomorrow LOL.
The connector should wiggle out with a long flathead and then you are set. I did not cover the alternator or connector. Probably will leave it like this.

Really? Cool so the actual connector is different than forum member JettaRed's, our is just a slide on plug and I can just yank out?

I definitely recommend this. Just feels much more free, way less lag and it just goes. I swear this would make MPG better than these "Eco "restricting systems in place. Even off throttle the car rolled as if transmission was disengaged, didn't really feel that pull back feeling when coasting.

Correct. I don't even think it's a tab like the typical connectors we have on the timing covers. Just sort of a sticking out permanent tab that you pull on to slide connector. Was not hard at all.

Interesting, when I was spending hours (2 days now, over 30 hours) trying to figure it out thinking it was a permanent plug that MB implemented for the W205 only that it now turns out it is a slide on, no wonder we have a ziptie!

yeah , you don't need to pull the undercover that is under the bumper. Just do the one behind, you will be able to wedge it out from underneath it slid out very smoothly. Will drive the car again tomorrow , It's mainly my wifes actually but I do these mods to it LOLLL.

Congratulations mate, there you have it

I have good news for you:
It's Not Just Going To Stay This Way...
ECU/TCU are going to keep improving

Your fuel map will finely tuned up based on engine firing better.... along 500 to 100kMi.

You're going to gain your Pressure Sensitive Pedal the way it should be!

Enjoy the ride.

Don't forget about me, I am on the same runway but pretty far from the finish line. 30 hours and counting.

thanks Cali and MS for finding these mods. Car def feels different, no placebo effect. I used to notice sometimes on idle the exhaust very would slightly sort of burp or hesitate. Maybe you guys are right and these were mini misfires due to all of this "bad" control from ECU?

Even if it is out or focus I am pretty sure it is much much better than the painting style image I uploaded last time of the cone shaped plug.

I know you're in the pipe... attack that thing gently don't let it win...
you too deserve more torque and better mpg for free.

Like I said... cutting ALT-LIN in M-connector is faster!!
Then you get to solder a concealed on/off switch to easily wipe ECU Code on-demand... no belly pan dealings ever again.

I am terrible with soldering pretty sure I will short circuit something in the process.

so there is this notch you see pointing towards the back.. it is what I used my flat head screwdriver on to yank it until it slid out. Took like 4 to 5 tries.

Once again, the ALT-LIN is pin 45 on the ECU connector.

what you describe is the ballpark of weak accelerations from LEAN MISFIRES. Some ppl complain about LAG...

Some engines have it more, some less... what few have is an engine that builds a strong fuel map below 2500Rpm.

Now our engine does, all by itself with the new "normal" setup.

Its the failed ignition firings that cause ECU to lean out the fuel. This is due to timings not being consistent.

You get to be No1 to cut ALT-LIN, the easiest and most advanced way - Courtesy of JR!
