Hey, everyone. My name is Marcus and I currently am living in Schonaich, Germany. I work as a GS employee for the DoD. I am a retired US Army 1SG with 21 years of service with plenty of time abroad and deployed. We still have a house back in Madison, AL and should hopefully be back there in about 5 years. I should be receiving my 2019 Selenite Grey C43 AMG Coupe in early January. I am super excited about being a member of the MB community. My family and I visited the MB museum last Sunday in Stuttgart and was extremely impressed. I am an avid car enthusiast an have owned a multitude of cars from a Plymouth Neon (1st car) to my current car 05 Honda S2000 AP2 with ITBs. My European cars have included an 04 E46 M3 (Dinan supercharged), 07 B7 RS4 (JHM supercharged), 11 Fiat 500 Abarth, 13 VW Touareg TDI, and my current 08 Peugot 307 beater. I've been noticing this problem globally. My E250 (Year 2013) had major problems in 2017 in Malaysia . When I lodged complaints about the engine rattling / Thumping Sound / noise at the engine / Mercedes Benz Malaysia would chase me away saying there is nothing wrong. I was told there is no warranty over the engines "timing chain, sprocket, camshafts". After my warranty expired , they wanted to charge me US$3500 for the same defective parts mentioned a few months earlier "timing chain, sprocket, camshafts". Attached are relevant police report which I had lodged together pictures of the incident , Image 1, Video 1 , Police report 1, Police report Page 2 ,CONCERNING MY DEFECTIVE E250 MERCEDES BENZ engine parts "timing chain, camshaft, sprocket , tensioner, adjuster, shut off devices, and connecting parts" that have been hidden worldwide and Mercedes Benz refuses to recall them, it causes accidents , sudden swerves, sudden crashes., sudden shut offs, sudden sleep mode, engine explodes and jams and much more , silently people are suffering Globally (just like my case) . My vehicle shut off and engine jammed and exploded with smoke appearing while driving on the highway at 105km per hour and almost collided with 3 other vehicles. Luckily I survived. As soon as I lodged complaints everywhere , I was served with defamation suits injunctions and contempt of court proceedings in Malaysia - while all the government departments kept silent (Ministry Malaysian International Trade, Domestic Trade and Consumer Department, Road Transport Department, Police and many others simply kept silent) Many of the departments frequently told me it was out of their jurisdiction , while Daimler and Mercedes Benz Malaysia took the approach the blame me for not servicing at their place regularly . I've initiated counter claim on them to change my vehicle to a brand new one.

Accordingly, Mercedes engaged in unfair and deceptive trade practices, including representing that Affected Vehicles have characteristics, uses, benefits, and qualities which they do not have; representing that Affected Vehicles are of a particular standard and quality when they are not; advertising Affected Vehicles with the intent not to sell them as advertised; and otherwise engaging in conduct likely to deceive. Further, Mercedes’ acts and practices described herein offend established public policy because the harm they cause to consumers, motorists, and pedestrians outweighs any benefit associated with such practices, and because Mercedes fraudulently concealed the defective nature of the Affected Vehicles from consumers.

The engines in the subject vehicles are equipped with a Variable-Valve Timing (VVT) system which controls the camshafts to provide optimal valve timing under certain driving conditions. The bolts used to secure the housing and sprocket of the intake-side VVT gear assembly could become loose due to abnormal impacts generated within the gear assembly immediately after a cold start-up. If this occurs, the VVT gear will not control the intake valves correctly. In certain cases, the VVT gear housing and sprocket could separate and result in the engine stopping while the vehicle is being driven, increasing the risk of a crash.

There are approximately 101,500 vehicles covered by this Safety Recall in the United States.
Remedy

To the 30th Dec poster, I wrote the timing "chain" snapped, not the timing belt. The W168 A-Class does not have a timing belt. The chain is sealed in the engine and designed to never be changed. Unfortunately mine snapped at just 67,000km. The 1.6L engine is an 'interfering' type, so if the timing goes the pistons smash into the valves and bend them. After the engine was taken apart and rebuilt I saw the extensive damage caused.

Automobile dealer Sterling Services Limited has been ordered to pay almost $400,000 in compensation to a customer to whom it sold a defective Mercedes Benz to in 2013. Danley Maharaj received the refund on the entire purchase price of the C-Class Mercedes Benz, after High Court Judge Frank Seepersad ruled that the company breached its contract by failing to properly address the defects experienced after purchase in August 2013. According to the evidence in the lawsuit, Maharaj was forced to return the vehicle eight times during the first six months due to a persistent “knocking noise” emanating from the engine. Maharaj sued the company after they refused his request for a replacement.

Very new to this - got 2 questions. one about the windshield and one about the engine
Hi. First off my name is Doug. I have a 2016 C300 w about 40,000 miles on it. If I am doing this wrong please let me know. I actually have 2 questions. unrelated. But need advice.
The first one is an easier one. there are words that appear of my front windshield when the windows fog up. It looks like some how a inventory sticker or something got permantly imposed into the glass. It numbers and letters. I have cleaned the windshield many time inside and out and it still comes back. I can't find anything anywhere about this, but if it is an issue I would think mercedes needs to replace the window.
Next is the engine. My car all of a sudden starting sounding driving and acting horrible. The rpms shoot way up, The whole car shakes and sputters on idle. i have to floor it to go anywhere sometimes. I have taken it to 3 dealerships and they tell me its fine, But its not. i have people I know that don't even own a car that have rode w me all the time who tell me "this car is getting bad" Merecedes refuses to fix it. The first dealer found nothing the 2nd said it was all cause the A/C motor was bad. The 3rd said nothing was wrong. They gave me a loaner car of a 2018 C300 and even though it is newer, it drove the way my car drove 2 months ago. A 2 year old mercedes should not sound and drive like mine does. I have video, lots of video documenting noises, loud shut off and start, rpm jumping etc, and also video of the loaner car baiscally driving the way it should. Idk what to do. I been in contact w corporate who seems like there is nothing they can do. I need some way to get them to fix it. Just recently bought a 2011 s63 and I am in love. I’ve owned other high end performance cars and non performance cars, this by far my favorite car and I will probably own it till the doors fall off. The one thing I’m amazed by is the price or front rotors, Jesus that’s a pricey rotor lol there has to be another option but outside of that I’m heads over heels in love. Amg over everything

Hi, I'm Tricia. I live in Ocala, FL. I'm currently driving my boyfriends 1999 C280. I don't have a pic of it yet. I don't know a lot about Mercedes. I've only ever driven Camaros. I lost my job a year ago due to a huge lay off and I haven't been able to find work since. Needless to say, it cost me my car too. So my b/f was kind enough to loan me his C280. It's got a ton of issues which I'm trying to work through. Hopefully you guys can help me. Hope to be speaking with some of you soon!
