Trying to fix my radar cruise... missing harnesses and sensors

so on my w221 s600 my cruise does not work nor do my parking sensors. I pulled the bumper off only to find I have no sensors, nor do I have any wiring for the sensors.

I have located used sensors, no problem.... Problem is the harness... Anyone know how many wires the radar harness has? How many plugs? where it connects into the cars body harness? HELP lol

I see three cut wires up by the passenger fender liner area, but do not know what they are for.

hey bud I need two of the brackets that hold the parking sensors on the inside of my front bumper! What is the part number for item 100 on this picture you uploaded? Hugely helpful BTW.

Here is a pic of the ONLY cut wiring I cn find in the right fender liner area under the headlight coming in from the main body harness.

Thanks! I now have the harness, 4 sensors, and the brackets on their way to me.. should have it all by July 1. Now just need to make sure I have the right wiring in the car to connect this new harness to.

This was very helpful. I ordered the connector and it seems the colors of the wires on the radar harness match the colors of the harness coming in from the cars body harness. Should be pretty easy to determine where they go at this point. I have found the correct wires taped up in my fender liner area. This may be resolved sooner than I thought! Very excited... I may still need the distronic sensor behind the grill. Whoever wrecked this car and got paid just put some epoxy on it where it was damaged... so it may not work.. $2600 new for that sensor... yikes.

Do you know if I install all these sensors in the front will it be enough to get my distronic cruise working or will I need to fix my rear sensors which are missing as well?

If properly installed and initiated using MB diagnostics should work but you will get warning about BSA I would suggest installation/calibration of all (front & rear) one time.

Front grille long range sensor, bumper short range sensors = 233 distronic plus + BAS plus and pre-safe brake
Rear sensors = 234 blind spot monitoring

Actually in this case the rear sensors are for park assist only.

The long range sensor in the front is for normal Distronic 219. The two additional front radar sensors are what allow for Distronic plus on top of the long range sensor.

Ill report back next sunday! I will have all the wiring in etc so we will see if the cruise comes to life.. I will say my cruise sensor behind the grill did get damaged in the previous owners wreck. Looks like the put epoxy on it... I dont know if the thing will come back to life.

So Where do these radar sensors mount? I see what looks like two spots built into my bumper for two sensors, but where do I mount the two out side sensors?

Is that a facelift bumper?

EDIT: correction, I can see that it is.

Facelift cars used ultrasonic sensors for the short range, and only had the single big radar in the middle (maybe they also used the two middle radar sensors too - not sure)

I can see all of the holes that were for the ultrasonic sensors have been filled with fibreglass in your pictures.

You need to get a pre-facelift bumper which will have all of the radar mounts or make your own mounts for the side radars.

I am confused guys. I have a code on my scan tool that says " code 748F stored and current, check the codings in the control module 'N93 (central gate way CGW ZGW control module)"

What does this mean? Do I have the wrong module in this car for the radar system?

My sensors are all plugged in. They feel warm to the touch and all are showing distance readings in CM on my Autel scan tool. No sign of working cruise yet however as the distronic still says INOP when I start the car.

It sounds like it was coded out when it was removed.

You will need to re code it on the central gateway and potentially a few other modules.

Yeah I guess I will work more on that when I get it all hooked up. My Autel can code the modules and I have coded distronic plus and a couple other things as equipped but I am still getting the error for distronic plus and cruise wont activate.

Question... how many of these radar sensors go to the rear? Some sources say 2 and some sources say 4.

Your car has two.

If the car had blindspot assist then there would be an additional two.

Either the data card or if you look inside the rear bumpers in either corner there is a bracket.

Just a small update. the sensors will not sense objects in front of them nor will the cruise come back to life with just the front sensors connected. They work, they get warm, and with my scan tool I can see them measuring distance from objects but it does not report on the instrument cluster nor will the cruise come on. What this means is the rear sensors need to be conected to complete the can bus and for it all to come to life most likely. I am ordering the rest of my rear sensors today... time to remove the rear bumper.... fun fun . My rear harness will be here today, so I will see how this goes. I still need to fab up a way to mount the front sensors since the bumper I have is not made for the two outer sensors. I am sure I will run into the same issue with this aftermarket rear bumper as well.

For some reason my Distronic sensor that is damaged has no power at the plug at all.. Not sure if there is supposed to be or if something is wrong. the wires dont seem broken anywhere in the harness as far as I can see.
Ideas?

Heads up, this car does have blind spot assist. the triangles are even in my side mirrors. I have the front harness done, all four sensors on, new DTR module/sensor behind the grille and still none of it comes to life... I suspect with the rear sensors being disconnected still, nothing is going to come to life until those are fixed. Agree?
