What is the pinout for the microphone in NTG5.
It is not the same as in NTG4.

Good day, i want to do the retrofit, from 4.5 to 5.1
I would like to ask what things i need to do
Do i need to change the wire for camera? as i can see i could add the new cable (4 pins) Last photo, and just repine the camera connector? Photo 5/6 white connector in my boot lid i have the black connector.
HK AMP? I have HK in my car already same amp as the donor car.
Tv tuner, i have the new one and i have the old one should i change it?
Video Cable blue one. i have it
Programing (have a friend to do this)
Any other things i need to do? Cables pins?

 

I know late response but just gor the sake of similar questions, I took mine to MB dealer and get it there. They were very friendly and helpful.

i just bought Comand NTG 5s1 for my ML 350 cdi Bluetec w166 , end 2012 wich is equipped with NTG4.5 Audio 20.
The only thing what I want to know is repinning the Quadlock; what I have to change exactly? How many pin I to change and which? Could you please help me with pictures or photos of the quadlock and wiring?

Do you have access to the wis? You can print the wiring diagrams for both systems and see the differences there.

Maybe anybody know how to repin the Video cable from ntg 4.5 to NTG 5.1? I have black connector in old screen, and blue in the new one, or could take a photo? this would help also, my old one has 3 cables and i saw some photos that similar screen whit blue connector has 4 cables one more black, i think its ground, comes from they new joystick for function screen on /off, maybe could anyone explain more? or make a photo of blue connector from back (where the cables comes)

Hi everyone! This thread has been one I have been following for awhile ever since I got my 2015 E350 Wagon. I'm relatively new still so forgive me if some of these questions have been answered elsewhere but I have done quite a bit of searching and so far I haven't found a straight answer.

Has anyone has successfully completed this retrofit that has the 360 Camera? Does the control module and all four cameras need to be replaced? I understand the rear camera needs replaced but I have not seen any information regarding the others or the module that controls it?
I would assume since the P/N's are different between 2015 and 2016 that they might need to change but I just want to confirm.

I also would like to know if anyone who has completed this retrofit has successfully enabled services on their car to unlock via the Mercedes Me app or the in car hotspot?
My understanding is VeDoc needs to be accessed and the data card for my vehicle would need to be modified by someone who has access to this database. Is this correct and does anyone have any anecdotal evidence of this working?

Hi, u have 2015 E350 Wagon thaht means u have rear camera HD (whit whit socket for cable) IF yeas than you don't need to replaced
video control module: this is hard to answer, depends on what module is at the moment, some of the modules where used the same for 360 cameras and non 360 system.
u will need 2 mirrors+ Wiring loom from the doors (for facra) (whit 360) or drill holes install cameras and all other this will be nightmare to do it
wiring harness for Door to Video module
Wiring harness Front camera + Front camera
And some programing, Sam unit Camera module + Rear camera coding if u will change the video module (it takes time Lots of it )

 

I wasn't quite clear in the last post. My car has 360 camera already. What I am trying to figure out is do these cameras need to be replaced with the cameras and module from a 2016 model or are the 2015 cameras and control module compatible?

 

You want to fit NTG 5 2016 unit in 2015 E350?
If yes take a picture front of your NTG head unit and rear view drive (back up camera on screen)

OK so you have NTG 4.7 as i can see, so you will need to change the rear view camera(u have analog) new one will be HD ,but rest of the cameras should work fine.
And i think video module wont be necessary to change just some programing will be needed for NTG

I have a 2015 CLS250 (built April 2015).I am trying to anyhow make it possible to activate Apple CarPlay.My COMAND system seems not to be prepared for that.I have 2 regular USB ports in the arm rest.Non of them has the screen mirroring symbol.Would it help to install the part # 246-820-38-00 OEM smart phone integration kit?Can I even connect that to my existing COMAND system?What I would also like to know, what's the COMAND version I have (NTG 5.x), and which version supports the Apple CarPlay (COMAND NTG 5.?)

the one I'm picturing is the Hu5S1 (note the chrome bands between the rows of buttons), and *WILL* support CarPlay and Android Auto IF and ONLY IF you get a dealer to install the latest and greatest firmware *AND* buy an aftermarket dongle to enable the AA/CarPlay feature.

otherwise, you need some Chinese kit of hardware that is an android computer and cables that you plug in between the head unit and the screen, and these don't integrate nearly as nicely, and you need to stuff the computer box into your glovebox or something.

 

 

if your car have code 531 command it is possible to activate carplay but first your unit must be updated

Yes, so you must update your headunit to latest firmware and then activate carplay
